I swam competitively for 10 years and set 17 school records in high school. I took course studies in Swimming & Track Coaching while earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. I have 25 years of swim coaching experience and 18 of those years have been with the Hurricanes. Swimming is a huge part of my life and coaching is a great pleasure. Fun fact: I swim 1 mile a day and have done so for the last 21 years.

Swimming has always been a part of my life. I naturally just gravitate towards water. I swam competitively for Hoffman Estates High School and coached the HEAT (Hoffman Estates Aquatic Team) while in high school before leaving for college, where I swam intramurals. I have worked in aquatics for over twenty years teaching swim lessons, training guards and managing day to day operations. I currently swim on the BG Masters Swim Team. I guess you can say that water is like a magnet for me. This past year was my first year coaching the Hurricanes and I had a blast doing it! I am excited to continue the fun during future seasons! Fun fact: I have two youger brothers and all three of us are left handed but our parents are right handed.

As a former South Korea National Swim Team Member (U-15) in 1988, I have always had a passion for swimming. After studying in the United States in 1989, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a major in Film & Electronic Media in 2004. I started my career in coaching as a private swim instructor in Glenview, IL, where I taught individuals of all ages and skill levels from 2005 to 2017. As an American Swimming Coaches Association (Level 2) certified coach since 2016 and a US Masters Swimming Adult Learn to Swim certified instructor since 2018, I have continued to develop my coaching abilities. I served as the Swim Team Coach at the North Suburban YMCA in Northbrook, IL, from 2017 to 2022 and was also the Aquatic Coordinator from 2021 to 2023. Since 2016, I have been the Swim Right Away Swim School President in Wheeling, IL. In 2020, I was elected as the President of the Swimming Federation for the Korean American Sports Association of Chicago, where I am proud to contribute to young athletes' development and the sport's growth.

I swam in middle school and high school with the Hurricanes and Buffalo Grove High School. I also played water polo for two years at Buffalo Grove High School as well. I have been with the park district since the summer of 2016 and now I am a manager while overseeing all the swim lessons. I love being able to coach the kids and see the progress that they are making each week. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social work and I am currently finishing up my graduate program where I will be getting my Master’s in School Social Work. I am very excited about this new season and to get the chance to coach the kids this summer!

I began swimming when I was 6 years old, and swam with the park district for about 5 years. Aside from coaching, I also do cross country and track at Stevenson. I’ve been coaching for a little under a year, and I love helping swimmers improve their skills, while also having lots of fun!

I swam throughout middle school and part of high school. I used to swim in Hurricanes for 3 years. I have started coaching in the Fall of 2023-2024. However, I have been swim instructing guarding since summer of 2023. I currently a sophomore at Buffalo Grove High School and I still currently swim and play soccer. I have been swimming for about half of my life and I take pride in it. Since last summer, I love to teach and coach kids and seeing growth.

I have swam competitively for most of my life and I enjoy the passion, the hard work and determination behind this sport. Additionally, I also do track in the spring and work as a lifeguard and swim instructor all-year. I look forward to helping the kids learn more!

I've been swimming for almost 10 years now specializing in breastroke and IM. I started out at the Buffalo Grove Hurricanes where I swam for a couple years. Now I swim for PPD and it's made me love swimming even more. I've been working for the Hurricanes for almost 3 years now, starting out as a lifeguard and now coaching. I love spending my time at the pool any way I can, especially when coaching to help young swimmers improve their skills.

I swam competitively throughout middle school and part of high school. I also play water polo where we swim a lot for conditioning. With waterpolo I have been a part of two state runner up teams and a state championship team at Stevenson high school so far. Additionally I have been doing swim lessons for almost a year and started coaching this past winter season. I have a lot of fun and really enjoy helping these kids and instilling the same passion I have for aquatics.
