Head Coach
Coach Karl has been part of the Forest Hills Swim Team family since 1983 when he started as an assistant coach and quickly was bumped up to head coach the following year where he ran the team for 2 years. He returned as head coach to FHSC in 1992 where he stays today inspiring our swimmers of all swimming abilities to tackle this tough sport and find personal success. He has led the FHSC Swim team to 23 NSSL League Championships. He currently is the Head Coach of the Birmingham Seaholm High School Girls Swim Team and led the team to 4 State Championships. He has also led the Cranbrook boys swim team to 4 State Championships. Karl has previously coached club swimming at Royal Oak Penguins, Michigan Stingrays, and Birmingham Blue Dolphins. He also previously coached high school swimming at Royal Oak Dondero, and Avondale. We are so happy to have Coach Karl back for another season to defend our back-to-back NSSL League Championship and continue to lead and guide our swimmers in the pool!

Abigail (Abby) will be an incoming senior at Purdue University majoring in Public Health, and plans to pursue sonography school after graduating in spring of 2026. This will be her third year coaching for the Waterhogs! She swam for Forest Hills for 11 years. She swam for BBD, as well as Seaholm High School where she was a part of the 3-peat state champions in 2019-2021. She is apart of the Purdue Swim Club and was a part of the national teams that won back-to-back national championships (in 2023 and 2024). Her favorite event is the 100 IM :) She loves getting to coach and bond with the kids along with being a part of their growth and love for the sport, and she can’t wait to come back again this summer!!

Kelley is entering her sophomore year of college at Oakland University where she is swimming and studying advertising and public relations. This will be her second year coaching at Forest Hills. Kelley has been swimming for 14 years, 13 years as a WaterH2og, as well as BBD and Seaholm High School. Kelley was a part of the 2020 and 2021 State Championships at Seaholm High School, and still holds the D2 State Meet record in the 500 freestyle. She just recently completed her first college swim season where she placed Top 5 in the Horizon League in each of her events and was a part of Oakland’s 31st conference win. Kelley loves seeing the H2OGs accomplish their goals and can’t wait to come back this summer! GO H2OGS!

Robbie Jack Higgins had a long swimming career which started 13 years ago as a fellow FHSC Waterhog! He swam for FHSC for 13 summers, where he won multiple A finals in the 50 backstroke. Robbie was an all state swimmer throughout high school while also playing football. Robbie's current favorite events are sprint free, back, and fly. Robbie has a lot of passion and energy and is excited to coach his second season at FHSC. He loves coaching the kids while also having fun with them. He can’t wait to be back!

Luke Deighan is a former Forest Hills Waterhog. He is the son of longtime BBD coach, Pat Deighan. He attended Seaholm High School where he earned All-State honors and won a State Championship in swimming in 2021. Luke’s favorite event is the 200 freestyle but he also enjoys IM and Butterfly. Outside of swimming, he plays a lot of golf and caddies at Oakland Hills Country Club. Luke currently attends Michigan State University as an Evans Scholar. He is extremely excited for his first summer coaching at Forest Hills!

Lindsay is entering her sophomore year at the University of Michigan pursuing an undergraduate degree in the College of Pharmacy and with a minor in Spanish on a pre-medicine track. Lindsay has been swimming for 14 years, 13 years as a WaterH2og having graduated the team last year. Lindsay also swam under Karl at Seaholm High School, in which she was a part of the 2020 and 2021 State Championship teams, an all-state swimmer, and served as captain. This will be Lindsay’s first summer coaching at Forest Hills, and she is excited to watch the younger waterhogs improve and achieve their goals, while having so much fun!

Avery is entering her freshman year at Denison University, where she will swim and study biology. Avery has been swimming for 13 years. She swims at Seaholm where she competed at the state meet all 4 years and broke the 100 backstroke school record this past fall. Avery is also a member of the BBD YMCA National team where since 2023. Her favorite event is the 200 backstroke. This will be Avery’s first year as an assistant coach and cannot wait to meet the team and help them have a great swim season!

Morgan Priestley a former FHSC Waterhog and Seaholm Swimmer, who still holds FHSC and Seaholm records will be coaching part time for the Waterhogs this summer! Morgan swam competitively for 15+ years, primarily excelling in the mid-distance freestyles. While at Stanford, he was a four-year member, multi-time All-American, and multi-event Olympic Trial qualifier for the Cardinal. On the side, Morgan is an avid sports fan, concert junkie, runner, and enjoys floating around the pool when he gets the chance.
