PWSL Updates

PWSL Week 4 is not yet complete. Due to Saturday's weather, a venue was closed on Saturday and the two teams involved have rescheduled their meet to Monday night. The good news, all other 11 meets dodged the raindrops and completed their meets, even though there were a few delays and some canopies broken by the heavy overnight rains. Results for the other 11 meets and top times so far are available at the live results site, pwswim.org, which appears to be back to full functionality - THANK YOU to Tony and our volunteers who made that possible.

The midseason (through week three) Team Manager, Excel, and Top 25 files are available to computer reps on the "Computer Support" tab of this website.

Next week is week 5, and 12 teams will host their final regular season meet for 2022: Stonewall, Old Bridge, Veterans Park, Lake Ridge, Brookside, Dale City, Victory Lakes, Ridgewood, Wellington, Sudley, Dominion Valley, and Bridlewood. All these teams, even if they are hosting divisionals, should be making arrangements to return their organized, unused regular season ribbons to Sudley within a few days after their meet. Take note of other teams near you, especially the five east side teams on that list - if teams coordinate their efforts, they can probably find someone heading towards Manassas who can save a neighbor from making a special trip.

Dennis would like to reiterate that ribbons are the league's main expense, and it's impossible for his staff to count all the ribbons accurately if teams wait until August to return unused ribbons. John will also be reaching out to computer reps immediately after their last meets to get an estimate of unused deck cards.

If ALL teams could check storage spaces and basements for unused ribbons and deck cards that might not have been returned or reused in the past, minimizing ribbon and deck card expense is crucial for keeping swimmer fees from increasing.

Finally, there were a couple questions about relay swim-ups this week. I've attached the relevant part of the by-laws; teams have been on point with these rules, there's been no problems observed.

A reminder that it's also fine, if a team still can't field a relay under these rules (or has an extra lane available and the kids to fill it, within the bounds of good sportsmanship) to enter a non-conforming team (mixed gender, exceeding entry limits, etc) and mark it "Exhibition" or "DQ" so they can't score points or earn ribbons.
