Coaches and Directors
Cassondre started competitively swimming in the early 80’s competed at the collegiate level for Old Dominion University, earning several honors, both academically and athletically. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a major in Therapeutic Recreation and double minor in Psychology and Sociology before receiving her Masters degree from NSU in Early Education. She then got her certification for personal training and worked for several years as a personal trainer. She was a professional IFPA bodybuilder and competed in several triathlons.
She started coaching with Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, VA before moving to Virginia Beach and coaching several teams in the Tidewater area. Cassondre is currently the Head Senior Coach for the Spartans Swim Club and an Assistant Coach at Virginia Wesleyan University. She is also the Head Coach for the First Colonial High School women’s and men’s teams. She loves the sport of swimming because every swimmer is capable of learning to be the best of their ability.
Cason returns as a coach for River Walk this year after moving back to the area. He swam for the team from ages 4-18 and was a coach his last two years with the team. He recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he swam for five years and is a two time all-American. He also got to compete at Olympic Trials twice competing in the 100 fly (2021 and 2024) and 50 and 100 free (2021). Cason also works as an engineer for Burns & McDonnell. He looks forward to returning to his home team and knows we will have a great season!
Megan began swimming for the River Walk Gators 14 years ago. She enjoyed the summer season so much that she pursued competitive swimming year-round with Tide Swimming. Megan is currently a rising second year in the School of Nursing at the University of Virginia, where she continues swimming as a member of UVA’s club swim team. She has enjoyed working with the younger swimmers the past few summers and looks forward to continuing to advance the next generation of swimmers!
Kaylee is a rising sophomore at James Madison University studying Architectural Design. She is a current member of the JMU Club Swim Team and qualified for the 2025 CCS Nationals Meet as well. She has been a River Walk Gator since the age of eight, and was consistently named to the Divisional and All-Star teams. She also holds several team breaststroke records for the Gator girls. She’s looking forward to being an assistant coach, as well as helping young Gators succeed!
Allen has done year round competitive swimming for 9 years. At the height of his career he competed at a national level. He turned it into a profession and now conducts subsurface maritime operations throughout the world.
Avery is a rising senior at Greenbrier Christian Academy. She has been swimming for River Walk since 2018. She swam club for several years with Tide Swimming and also swam competitively for her school team. Avery is quite eager to work with all our younger Gators this summer, help them develop, and reach all their swimming goals.
Hatcher has been swimming at River Walk for three years and this will be his second year coaching. He is a graduating senior at Deep Creek High School, where he was a captain of the swim team, and will be attending James Madison University in the fall. Hatcher is so excited to return and keep helping all the young Gators swim fast and have fun.
Grace has been swimming for River Walk since 2016. Grace is a graduating senior at Indian River High School, where she was a captain of the swim team. She plans to attend Rice University in the fall to study sports management. Grace has also been a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA. She enjoys helping young swimmers succeed and is very excited to be a junior coach!
