Coach’s Message
Good evening Rudgear Rats families! Collectively, we are off to a strong start with our 2023 season. Big thank you to Rudgear Meadows for hosting us throughout the spring.

Calling all 13 & Ups! Please, sign up for Rat Pack. We can always use an extra set of helping hands!

Is your swimmer seeking additional help? Don’t hesitate to sign up for lessons. Also, I am hosting a stroke and turn clinic on Sunday, April 23rd for those who are interested.

Remember, having fun is our main goal. Please continue bringing positive vibes to the pool deck! Bless Up. Bleed Green. Go Rats!
-Coach Nick

Platinum Sponsorship
Support the best swim team on the planet and advertise your business to over 1,000 locals with our Platinum Sponsorship opportunity! As a Platinum level sponsor you get a hyperlinked logo on our website's home page, a social media shout out in our Facebook group and on our Instagram, your logo printed on our sponsorship banner that hangs at all home meets and at City and Conference, and a jobs pass for all dual meet and team jobs for the season (limited passes available and Platinum level guarantees first dibs).

We also offer three other levels of sponsorship, so please share with friends, family, dentists, restaurants, and more.

Questions? Ready to sponsor? Reach out to our treasurer, Nick Loera, at [email protected].

Spring Social
You asked for it, so we planned it! The Rudgear Estates Parent Social is going down at Calicraft on April 29th at 6pm. Please join us for a fun, adults-only evening!

Health
Rudgear Rats spread good vibes, not germs. Please take care of the team by making sure your swimmers are healthy when they attend practice. If your swimmer has been sick with anything (flu, fever, cold, strep, or any other illness) please keep them from practice (and once they get going, meets) until they have been well for a full 24 hours. Thank you!

Parking
Do not park in the red at practice.
We realize there are fewer parking spaces in the lot than we are used to; however, there is tons of street parking. Parking in the red is extremely dangerous - an emergency vehicle wouldn’t be able to get to us if needed.

Help Wanted
We are still looking to fill some key jobs for the 2023 meet season. Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested and/or have any questions about any of the below positions.

Stroke & Turn
Stroke & Turn judges are the people who make sure swimmers do everything “legally” in a race and disqualify swimmers based on stroke and turn requirements. Stroke and Turn judges are trained, so you don’t have to be a former swimmer or have intricate knowledge of the sport – you just need to be willing to learn (and to DQ a swimmer here and there). AND, serving as a Stroke and Turn judge gets you one of the best seats in the house to all the races. Serving as a Stroke & Turn judge satisfies your meet job requirements as you will be scheduled for S&T shifts for dual meets, City, and Conference.

CTS
The person in charge of CTS operates the Colorado Timing System and works with rest of the Desk crew. The Desk provides a unique and exciting perspective of the inner workings of a swim meet – and you get one of the best seats in the house for every meet you work!

Co-Head Shepherd
Do you want the power of the Cow Bell? Then this job may be for you. The Head Shepherds work together to make sure our 6Us and 7/8s are ready to race! But don’t worry – you don’t do it alone. You have a team of four other shepherds at each meet and the Rat Packers help out, too. This is a great job for families with younger kids, since you’re already wrangling your own kids, anyway!

Registration Update
There are only fourteen spots left on our team for this season! If you have friends or neighbors who are thinking about joining the team please encourage them to register ASAP. Same goes for anyone interested in signing up for Rugrats (formerly Polliwogs).

Lessons
Coach Nick is able to offer a very limited number of lessons in the spring. Once the summer season starts, however, our coaches will be offering tons of lessons!

Stroke & Turn Clinic
Sign up for Coach Nick’s April 23rd stroke and turn clinic at Rudgear Meadows.
-8 and unders: 11:00-11:45am focusing on stroke technique (freestyle + a stroke of the swimmer’s choosing) and dives
-9 and ups: 12:00-1:00pm: focusing on stroke technique & turns (and some diving, too)
Limited spots available - click here to sign up.

Rudgear Estates Pool Update
The latest from the Rudgear Estates Homeowner’s Association is that “[t]he pool will likely be able to open in early to mid-May, but the exact timing is still unknown.” As a swim team board, we are monitoring this closely and will share more information, as we receive it.

We are so grateful to the Rudgear Meadows HOA for allowing us to rent their pool until ours is ready.
