Blood in the Water meet and volunteer sign ups open

Swim Team Coordinator Board

Hello Sharks!

It’s June! That means our first swim meet is only a few weeks away!

First up is the Blood in the Water intersquad meet!! This mini meet is on Thursday, June 20th at 6 pm! Jack, Ellie and Megan are getting really excited for this and have some fun up their sleeves. They are going to be splitting the team into two teams to compete against each other with some fun incentives for the winning team. Please do your best to attend this meet! Not only is it going to be a great kickoff to the summer swim season but it’s also going to be a time to practice running a meet so they run smoothly and efficiently for the regular season. It’s also a great time to get in some of those required volunteer hours!

For this meet and all following you will need to declare your swimmer. This means that you are stating whether or not they are going to attend the meet. Click here to declare your swimmer(s) for the swim meets. Here is a video that shows you how to do it. The declaration deadline for the Blood in the Water meet is Sunday, June 16th. The rest of the meets, the declaration deadline is the Sunday before the meet for both the Tuesday and Thursday meet that week. Speedy sixer families, you do not need to declare your swimmers for the meets. They only swim at home meets and they just get to show up and swim the two speedy events which we will have at the Blood in the Water meet. If your speedy sixer has been approved by Jack and the coordinators to swim up to the 8u age group then you will need to declare them.

Volunteer jobs have been opened for the Blood in the Water meet and our first home meet on June 27th. Click here for volunteer job signup. You will need to register yourself under your own account and sign in at the meet to get the volunteer credit . We’re going to see if we have the positions working well before opening the job positions for the rest of the season. Our next home meet after that is July 9th and will plan on opening the job signup right after the June 27th meet.

It takes about 100 parent volunteers to run a meet. We cannot host meets without you. There is a requirement that each family volunteers AT LEAST 11 hours for the season but that is the minimum. For a reminder on the volunteer requirements, you can look at the website here. Please keep in mind that some of the volunteer positions may require prior experience or training. If you are interested in doing the computer meet data entry, there is a training this Wednesday evening on zoom, email us if you would like to attend.

Feel free to reach out anytime!
