2025 JR. OTTER PROGRAM

The Jr. Otter program is a developmental swim program for children ages approximately age 4-6 who are water safe but may not be ready for the full swim team experience. Over 6 weeks children will be taught the skills to become effective in swimming freestyle and backstroke. Many children will progress to diving and all will have the opportunity to swim at a Folsom Sea Otter swim meet. Our goal is to teach each swimmer to successfully swim one lap and participate in a meet.

This program has a capacity for 18 swimmers who will be working with on average 5 coaches (1 Assistant Coach and 3-6 Swimmer Coaches).  The instructional pool will be used which has a depth of 3.5 feet. It is heated and supervised by an Aquatic Center lifeguard. Parents will need to stay at the pool for the duration of practice. 

This program is recommended when kids that struggle to pass our Water Safety Check (WSC).  Proficient swimmers who pass our WSC under the required time are ready for swim team and will not benefit from this program.  They will be asked to register for the FSO team.  Swimmers who completed one year of JR Otters are not eligible to participate in the JRs program more than once and are asked to join our regular team.

MANDATORY WATER SAFETY CHECK

Prior to the start of the program, children will need to demonstrate they can be safe in the water by participating in the Water Safety Check. Coaches will evaluate participant’s ability to swim a 1/2 lap (12.5 yards), demonstrating they are water safe and able to take a breath. Please have your swimmer come ready to swim in a suit, goggles, and bring a towel and change of clothes, if needed. Swim caps are optional for the Water Safety Check. The Water Safety Check will take place rain or shine, at the Folsom Aquatic Center.

REFUND/DROP POLICY

Swimmers who are assessed as not being ready for the program will receive a full refund, less a $50 processing fee. Swimmers who decide to leave the program and provide written notice to the Folsom Sea Otter Board prior to March 30 2025 shall receive a 75% refund of their registration fee. Swimmers who leave the program from March 31, 2025 to May 29, 2025 will receive a 50% refund.  No refunds will be given after May 29,2025 No Exceptions.

2025 REGISTRATION FEE

$275 per swimmer. Fee includes an FSO team T-shirt and end of the year swim meet participation award.
