Hello Stingrays!
It was a great first meet yesterday and so exciting to see our Straehle qualifiers already! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered in the sweltering hot weather. Can’t wait to watch our swimmers the rest of the season.
Waugh Chapel Meet
Our second dual meet is Saturday, June 29th at Waugh Chapel Swim Club, 854 Waugh Chapel Rd., Gambrills, MD, 21054. Sign up and declare by Tuesday at 8pm. As usual, the coaches will select the events. Volunteer sign-up will be in the same place and an email will be sent out when those are open. Warm-up time is still TBD, but plan on being there around 8:15am and the meet will start at 9am.
Sprit Wear
If you want more swag or missed ordering earlier – never fear! The spirit wear store is open and will be until midnight July 2nd. Delivery will be by the end of the season.
Ribbons and Tokens
Swimmers will receive their ribbons and Stingray tokens at practice this week. Family mailboxes will show up, so if your swimmer misses it, please check your mailbox folder. Stingray tokens can be used at our “token store” during the week, our concessions stand during meets, or saved up for our banquet at the end of the year. Donuts and full-size candy can be bought at concessions for 4 tokens per item.
Chipotle Fundraiser
Wednesday, July 10th – mark your calendars!! Between 4-8pm, 25% of event sales will be donated to the Westminster Stingrays. See the attached flyer for details including a code if you order online.
Carroll County Invitational
South Carroll Swim Club will once again be holding the Carroll County Invitational (CCI) on Wednesday, July 17th, 1900 W. Liberty Rd, Westminster, MD 21157. Warm-ups begin at 3pm and the meet starts at 4:30pm. Every swimmer is invited!
Sign-ups will go live this week and the entry deadline is Monday, July 8th by 7:15pm. Once the sign-ups are live, declare your swimmer for the meet the same way as you do for dual meets, but you can select your own events for each swimmer this time (up to 4). Events are $5 each and once you sign up, we will charge your account. No cash/check needed.
Splash and Dash (Kid’s biathlon)
Sign up now for Splash and Dash on July 19th, 10am (the event will be held during/instead of practice), with proceeds benefiting our team. The cost is $13 for city residents and pool members and $19 for non-residents or non-pool members. There are three different options, and all are welcome.
Please invite all your friends and family to participate as this event is open to the public and is a fundraiser for our team.
Reminders
Keep cheering on swim buddies! The team spirit was strong Saturday – let’s keep it up!
Parents need to stay off the pool deck and out of the pool during practice and lessons. Please respect the space for the coaches and the swimmers.
We will hold practice unless it is actively thundering, or the weather is dangerous. If the weather looks iffy, check our Facebook page or your email for updates.
We are still interested in fundraising ideas and plans! Each fundraiser you plan, and implement, is worth 1 volunteer point (1 per family).
