Three CST Swimmers Finish Season Off-Island

Three swimmers from Carib Swim Team finished their seasons over seas. The results were mixed, but there were definitely some positives!

Joey Schvartz competed in two meets in Oyonnax, France. The first was the Final Benjamins/Junior meet. He swam to a few best times, and set a new team record for 13 year-old boys 100 backstroke (1:10.95). This was also a new team senior record. Joey's backstroke has been a bit off this season, so it was nice to see him return to form. His next meet was the Benjamins Aura League Championships, just a week later. At this competition, Joey set a new team record in 13 year-old boys 200 freestyle (2:12.71).

Matias Piazza went to Montreal to partake in the Arena Quebec Championship, where he swam several lifetime bests. His time in 50 free (25.68) was a new 15 year-old boys record, as well as a new CST senior record. He also broke both the 15 year-old boys and senior records in his 50 fly (26.64).

Not to be outdone by the boys, Saphir Thomas achieved eight new team records swimming in Martinique at the Martinique Open Championship. Her 50 freestyle time of 28.44 wiped away a six year old record in both the 14 year-old girls category, as well as the senior record. Likewise, her 400 free (4:54.90) was both an age group and senior record. Her 800 free (10:21.92) reset the 14 year-old record, but was a bit short of her own senior record. She did break both the age group and senior records in her 50 backstroke (32.25). Finally, her 50 fly lowered a six year old record for her age group, with a 31.81.

Congratulations on some fine results over seas. Enjoy some well earned time off, and we'll look forward to seeing even better things next season.
