CST Dominates First SMAF Championship
Carib Swim Team dominated the first (to be annual) SMAF Championships last weekend, with a bunch of great time drops and new records.
It was a lopsided victory, as the two other attending teams came with small contingents. CST won the meet with 993 points. Super Splash Swim Team came in second with 135 points, and Dolphin Swim Team finished third with 59 points.
CST managed 44 new time standards met:
15 new ‘B’ times were achieved by Louise Creusot (200 fly), Aurelie Desir (50 free and 50 breast), Abbi Illis (50 free), Arianna Lont (200 Breast), Sacha Tobias (100 back and 200 IM), Cato de Wilde (50 breast), Nihal Chugani (50 free, 100 free, and 800 free), Quentin Guyenot (50 free and 800 free), Nicolas Piazza (200 free), and Kjeld Van Der Meer (100 IM).
15 new ‘BB’ times were achieved by Adaya Bourne (100 fly), Aiyana Bourne (50 free and 50 fly), Gigi Cai (100 free), Arianna Lont (1500 free and 100 breast), Denecia Prince (50 free, 100 free, 800 free, 1500 free, 200 back), Nicolas Piazza (100 free and 100 breast), Kjeld Van Der Meer (100 free), and Chris de Wilde (50 fly).
8 new ‘A’ times were achieved by Adaya Bourne (50 free and 100 free), Adriaan Coppelmans (800 free and 1500 free), Matias Piazza (200 free and 400 IM), Joey Schvartz (200 free), and Chris de Wilde (100 free)
6 new ‘AA’ times were achieved by Matias Piazza (50 free and 100 fly), and Joey Schvartz (400 free, 800 free, 1500 free, and 400 IM).
Additionally, nine new team records were achieved by three CST swimmers: Joey Schvartz now has the 11-year-old boys records in 400 free, 800 free, 1500 free, and 400 IM. Matias Piazza broke the records for 13-year-old boys in 200 free, 800 free, 100 fly, and 400 IM. Finally, Arianna Lont reset the team record for 14-year-old girls in 1500 free. Her time of 20:57.75 was also the senior record, meaning she swam the fastest time of any CST woman ever!
Other event winners were Darina Smirnova, Caithlyn Challenger, Phillip Chang Sing Pang, Anna de Wilde, Tatiana Penuela, Nikki Grandtner, Taffi Illis, Patrick Szabo, Sernik Giosue Porcasi, Emma Szabo, Lennox Van Kooten, Liam Van Kooten, and Al-Sheenia Wilson.
