Marine Management and Consulting presents the Sint Maarten Aquatic Federation Championships
Carib Swim Team, for the second year in a row, dominated the Sint Maarten Aquatic Federation Championship Meet on Sunday 12th June. The meet was kindly sponsored by Marine Management and Consulting, and acts as an island wide ‘national’ championship for swimming.
Carib Swim Team finished with 913 points, followed by Super Splash Swim Team with 170 points.
Six CST swimmers combined for 19 team age group records, and 8 senior records (fastest swim ever for a CST swimmer, no matter what age)! Adaya Bourne (14 years) set new team records in 200 free (2:22.12) and 50 fly (34.33). Nikki Grandtner (14 years) broke the records in 50 back (36.59 and 100 back (1:16.70). Arianna Lont (15 years) set records in 800 free (10:45.91) and 1500 free (20:20.95). Saphir Thomas (13 years) broke both age group and senior records in 400 free (4:53.13) and 1500 free (20:11.11).
On the boys side, Matias Piazza (14 years) set six new age group records, with 200 free (2:05.46), 400 free (4:23.93), 800 free (8:58.11), 1500 free (17:27.71), 100 butterfly (1:00.52), and 200 butterfly (2:18.34). The 400 free, 800 free, 1500 free and 200 butterfly are new also senior records. Finally, Joey Schvartz (12 years) broke five team records, in the 200 free (2:15.64), 400 free (4:38.36), 800 free (9:28.57), 200 IM (2:26.05), and 400 IM (5:11.11). Joey’s 200 and 400 IMs are new senior records.
CST swimmers also earned a ton of new time standards. New ‘B’ times were achieved by Eden Andre (100 breast, in her first ever meet!), Aiyana Bourne (50 back and 200 IM), D’Anka Burgan (50 free and 200 IM), Yuyu Cai (100 breast and 100 IM), Carly Critchlow (50 breast), Sacha Tobias (100 breast), Philip Chang Sing Pang (100 IM), Quentin Guyenot (400 IM), and Daan Vinke (50 free).
New ‘BB” times were made by D’Anka Burgan (50 breast), Nikki Grandtner (200 free), Denecia Prince (50 free and 200 free), Saphir Thomas (1500 free), and Nicolas Piazza (200 free).
New ‘A’ times were set by Adaya Bourne (200 free), and Nicolas Piazza (50 free). New ‘AA’ times were achieved by Saphir Thomas (200 free and 400 free), and Matias Piazza (200 free, 1500 free, and 200 butterfly). New ‘AAA’ times were set by Matias Piazza (400 free, 800 free, and 100 butterfly), and Joey Schvartz (400 free and 400 IM). Finally, Joey’s 800 free achieved the ‘AAAA’ standard.
Event winners that weren’t previously mentioned are Nila Benjamin, Rylan Benjamin, Lucas Berman, Declan Boyd, Gigi Cai, Nihal Chugani, Simon Creusot, Ashlee-Marie Daniel, Mathys Fleming, Brandon Girier Dufournier, Hugo Petit, Shaniqua Schladt, Darina Smirnova, Kjeld Van Der Meer, Lennox Van Kooten, and Pablo Zapato.
