CST Swimmers Help Their Schools To Great Results
The annual Caribbean Gems SXM scholastic meets were held on Sunday, and the schools were greatly bolstered by Carib Swim Team student athletes.
In the elementary meet, CST swimmers won 20 of 29 available gold medals in individual events, and 43 of 87 medals overall.
The High School meet was also an impressive medal hall for CST, as they on 11 of 20 gold medals, and 24 of 60 medals overall.
New team records were set by Matias Piazza (15 years) 50 free (25.54 - also a senior record), and Saphir Thomas (14 years) in 50 back (32.35), and 50 fly (32.60).
New time standards were met by Kjeld van der Meer (50 free - A), Julia Vriezen (50 back - BB), Declan Boyd (100 free - BB), Daan Vinke (50 back - BB), Pepijn Vriezen (50 free - BB), Aiyana Bourne (50 fly - B), Shaniqua Schladt (100 free - B), Jolle Kamminga (100 free - B), Amia President (50 breast - B), and Rylan Benjamin (100 Free - B).
CST individual event winners in the elementary meet were Yuyu Cai, Joseph Johnson, Charlotte Challenger, Anderson Wang, Tavare Green, Tanishka Bandal, Caithlyn Challenger, Iejaelin Richardson, Patrick Szabo, Amia President, Phillip Chang Sing Pang, Rylan Benjamin, Colin-Vonn Bootman, Caleb Deher, and Kjeld van der Meer.
Cst individual event winners for their high school teams were Denecia Prince, Saphir Thomas, Adaya Bourne, Joey Schvartz, Nicolas Piazza, Matias Piazza,and Nikki Grandter.
CIA was a double team winner, with CIA and Montessori winning the elementary meet, and CIA winning the high school meet.
