2024 is here!

Coach Corry Day

Hello to all Panther Swimmers,

Hope everyone is now back into the swing of things after our amazing winter break. Our winter swim camp in Phuket was unbelievable. We have 57 swimmers attend the three-day camp and we all came back with great experiences and some closer team mates. I highly suggest planning for it next year. It will always be the 3 days before the start of school (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) so book your winter break holidays to return a couple days earlier.

Our second semester of registration and training has come and past. We have a handful of new swimmers joining, and have only lost about the same. So, our team numbers will stay just under 400 swimmers.

We are just shy of two weeks before our Varsity swimmers head off to Jakarta for the IASAS Swim Championships. They have been training very hard for this competitioin from the start of the year in August. If you seen them at the pool wish them luck. Also, make sure to watch on the live stream. We will provide links closer to the day (Feb 1-3).

For those that don't already know; IASAS is our confrence that we compete with in sports, arts and other activities. It is made up of International schools from Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Taipie, Malaysia and of course us here in Bangkok. It is very competitve conference in ASIA. So it is an honor to represent ISB at these events.

Quick fun fact: out of the 13 female individual events at IASAS...ISB holds 9 of those records...very impressive for our girls. They boys have 3, which is also very good.

Important information for the upcoming weeks:

  1. ISB Splash International Meet (March 9/10): Volunteers needed, please sign up on the webpage

We are hosting 15 teams from overseas and 5 local teams on the weekend of March 9th and 10th. This is a meet for our competitive squads. So, if you are part of our competitive squads then you need to sign up ASAP. This is very different meet because we swim 25m SCM races on Saturday and 50m races LCM on Sunday. Not many swim meets are run like this. Come join the fun and help us host our visitors from all over Asia.

  1. Sr. and Jr. Palooza Meets in Feb:

On Feb 19th (11 & over swimmers) and 20th (10 & under swimmers) we will have our “in-house” Palooza meets after school. These competitions are time trials for all of our swimmers. If you can even just swim freestyle, you should come and experience what it is to participate in a race. Very low pressure and lot’s of fun. Everybody should sign up.

  1. Travel Meet to Vietnam (ISHMC school) May 17-19

This will be the second year for this trip. We went last year and really enjoyed it. We took 35 swimmers of all ages and levels. This meet is a good starter travel meet. The competition will be similar to our local meets. So anyone who trains at the 50m pool can attend. All ES/MS swimmers must travel with an adult family member. HS can travel with the team on their own.

Travel meets are a great way to fan the flames of passion for this sport. Traveling with your team mates and staying over night is the best way to cement friendships and team bonding. Give it a try!

Events to sign up for on our website:

  1. Jr and Sr Palooza meets Feb 19/20 after school
  2. ISB Splash International Splash Meet (March 9/10)
  3. Vietnam travel meet (ISHMC school) May 17-19

See you on deck!
