On Sunday, Nov. 2, Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club put on an impressive performance at the USATF Cross Country Association Championships, showcasing strength, teamwork and record-breaking determination.

Leading the way was Hannah Johnson, who broke the club record previously held by Grace Gloster (set in October 2018) — shattering the mark by an incredible 12 seconds.

Continuing their season of excellence, Leo Anspach and Sandra Jakubiuk each broke their own club records once again, further cementing their spots among the Flyers’ all-time best.

Across the board, the Flyers delivered strong results with seven athletes placing in the top 15 of their races and 14 runners achieving personal best times — a testament to their hard work and focus throughout the fall season.

In team competition, the Flyers earned top finishes across multiple divisions:

  • 9–10 Boys: 3rd place out of 10 teams

  • 11–12 Girls: 4th place out of 7 teams

  • 11–12 Boys: 6th place out of 8 teams

These results reflect the team’s depth and determination as they now look ahead to the Region 2 Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, set for November 22nd in White Oak, Pennsylvania.

With momentum building and records continuing to fall, the Flyers are ready to take on the next challenge and keep pushing the pace!
