TRYOUT PROCESS

Swim team tryouts are run as a typical practice for each specific age group. Coaches will give the kids a brief warm up, a set of drills, and also a dive or two from the deep end. Swimmers will be evaluated on their knowledge and competence in all four competitive strokes; butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle. Swimmers will be evaluated not only on their swimming technique but listening skills and their interaction with other kids and the coaches. Each season our program makes every effort to keep our training group numbers consistent. We ask families to respect the decision of the coaching staff in regards to acceptance onto the team and training group placement.

Thank you for your patience during our tryout process. We had a little over 150 new and returning swimmers come and try out for the team. As you all saw at tryouts, the evaluation was a sample practice for each age group, where the coaches gave the kids a brief warm up, a set of drills, and also a dive or two from the deep end. They were evaluated on their knowledge and competence in all four competitive strokes; butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle. They were also evaluated on other technical skills in the water, in addition to how they listened and interacted with the coaches and their fellow swimmers in the lane. Every season our program makes every effort to keep our training group numbers consistent.
