Great Swims by our Region swimmers!

Congratulations to all our of team members who qualified and swam at the Upper Southesat Regional Short Course Championship this past weekend!  Not only did we have very good swims but our swimmers always showed good sportsmanship.  We had three swimmers who made Regions as 8 & 9 year olds which is very difficult to do.  Jordyn Clark, Al Farmer and Payton Gardner swim very well at the meet.

Best times and great swims were achieved by Preston Farmer, Ben Hawkins, Kaitlin Kunkle, Tyler Laprise, Zachary Laprise, EJ McGinnis, Mark Mulhall, Elisabeth Anne Orr, Thomas Orr, Mae Sparrow, Virginia Summer, Erin Werts and Josie West.

Ben Hawkins in the 9-10 age group came in 2nd in the Region in 50 breast and made his first "AAA" time with a 37.71 and placed 2nd in the Region in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:25.48.  He also placed 4th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:13.21.

Our senior swimmers swam exceptionally well at the meet.

Friday's Finals Results:

100 Breastroke

Kaitlin Kunkle placed 2nd with a time of 1:07.58   Elisabeth Anne placed 7th with a time of 1:11.70. 

Zachary Laprise swam in the "b" final for 13-14 boys and placed in the top 20 for 100 breastroke. 

Thomas Orr also placed in the top 20 for 100 breastroke with a time of 1:05.20

200 Freestyle

 Virginia placed 7th with a time of 1:58.20  Thomas Orr placed 6th with a time of 1:48.94.

100 butterfly

Virginia placed 11th with a time of 1:00.69  Elisabeth Anne placed 14th with a 1:01.68. 

Thomas placed in the top 10 in the 100 fly with a 55.65. 

200 Indivdual Medley,

Kaitlin Kunkle placed 2nd with a 2:11.74     Elisabeth placed 5th with a 2:13.10

Saturday Finals Results:

50 freestyle

Kaitlin Kunkle was the Region Champion with a time of 24.56,.  Elisabeth Anne placed 2nd with a 24.62 and Virginia placing 4th with a 24.90.

Thomas was in the final heat of Boy's 50 free and placed 3rd with a time of 21.90. 

100 backstroke

Virginia was the Region Champion with a time of 58.61.  Elisabeth Anne placed 2nd with a time of 59.30 and Kaitlin was in the top ten with a 1:00.47

Thomas placed 11th with a time of 56.44

500 freestyle

Virginia made the "b" final by swimming a 5:27.35 in the preliminaries and then in finals had a best time of 5:23.57

Sunday's finals results

200 backstroke

Virginia was the Region Champion with a time of 2:05.72.  Elisabeth Anne placed 2nd with a time of 2:07.84

100 freestyle

All 3 senior girls were in the Final heat for the event.  Elisabeth Anne placed 2nd with a time of 53.62, Kaitlin placed 3rd with a time of 54.20 and Virginia place 5th with a time of 54.93

Thomas placed 2nd with a time of 47.81

Congratulations to all of our Region swimmers for representing our team and YMCA with great time and even better sportsmanship. We are all SO PROUD of all of you!  Out of 41 teams competing in the Upper Southeast Regional Short Course Championship our team placed 13th overall!
