Piranhas Attack Day 2 At Sectionals

Adam Schmitt

Long Beach - 5 Piranhas swam 9 events in the preliminary session on day 2 of the US Swimming Sectional championships. The team had another banner day with 10 lifetime best times! By having aggressive strategies, 3 of the best swims were 100 lead-offs for their 200's. In the 200 butterfly, both Kat and Faith swam best time 100 swims, 1:02.66 and 1:01.08, on their way out to best times in the 200 with 2:11.30 and 2:09.67, respectfully. Adam Shaw swam 3 personal bests in the 200 Breast (2:08.38), 200 Back (1:56.16), and he broke his best 100 back time on the way out with 57.01, unfortunately doesn't count but it sets up his 100 Back for Tuesday. Chris Kopan had a PB in the 200 Breast in a time of 2:14.48, almost eclipsing his 100 best going out. Indira swam a best 52.43 in the 100 free along with Kat racing to a 54.62.

Overall, this typifies the new mentality of the Piranhas, attacking your race! Piranhas had a great day of swims and will regroup for Sunday's events of 200 free, 400 IM and 800 free relay.
