PIRANHAS COMPETE AT TWO

WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

 

 

 

 

It’s winter championship season at the pool and the Piranha Swim Team sent 12 swimmers to Winter Age Group Championships in Las Vegas, Dec. 10 -12, and nine to 2010 Speedo Champions Series CA-NV Winter Championship “Gold Sectionals” in Belmont Shores, Dec. 17-21.

 Competing against swimmers from throughout Southern California and Nevada at the Winter Age Group Championships were Shelby, age 13, and Kelli Andrade, 9, Lexi, 12, and Lindsay Letellier, 15, Alexa Wasserman, 14, all La Quinta residents; Christina Bruni, 17, Rancho Mirage; Desiree Lewis, 10, Indio; Kelley Ostrander, 16, Twentynine Palms; Alissah Koochaki, 12, Palm Springs; Sara Kennedy, 16, Yucca Valley; and Matt Nevins, 17, Palm Desert.

Swimming at the “Gold Sectionals” meet with swimmers from Sacramento to San Diego were Indira Ceranic, 15 , from Palm Desert; Chris Kopan, 16, Adam Shaw, 16, and Shelby Andrade, La Quinta; Palm Springs residents Faith Travis, 14, Kat Wickham, 14, and Alissah Koochaki;  and Christina Bruni and Sara Kennedy.

Head Coach Adam Schmitt was excited to end the year 2010 with so many successful swims.

“I am very impressed with the dedication of our swimmers who are showing themselves to have enormous championship spirit, braving the cold to come out and participate and improve their skills on a daily basis,” said Schmitt. “This determination is paying off at the winter championship meets.” 

The Piranha Swim Team is the Coachella Valley’s only USA-registered swim team, with programs for beginners from age 5 through international competitors to adults wanting fitness.
