Piranhas Holding At 19th

On Saturday night, the Piranhas looked to score big with many swims this night. The team looked to maintain a top 20 position at the Junior Olympic meet in Long Beach.

One of the highlights of the evening was in the 200 freestyle, on her birthday, Kat Wickham swam to a personal best in a time of 1:54.96 and placing 5th. Also, Indy Ceranic swam a 1:54.21 in the prelims that helped her secure 16th position at night.

The girls 13-14 100 fly saw Shelby Andrade swimming to a 15th place finish in 1:01.77. She swam 1:00.43 in the prelims with Kelley Ostrander who swam a time of 1:01.37.

The 400 IM had three Piranhas in the finals. The tandem of Faith Travis and Alexa Wasserman swam best times in the morning with 4:38.99 and 4:42.25 which allowed them to swim in the finals and secure 8th and 16th place points. Adam Shaw competed on the boys side with a final appearance of 8th place. Qualifying with a 4:07.99 and swimming a 4:09.43 in the big heat.

The night ended with the girls relays of 200 free and medley. The 13-14 girls of Faith, Alexa, Kat and Shelby earned 15th and 14th place points, while the 15-18 girls of Christina Bruni, Kelley, Sara Kennedy and Indy placed 20th and 23rd.

Other swims were in the 100 back in prelims where Christina went a best time of 1:00.33, Indy went 1:00.29, Kelley swimming a 1:04.44 and Shelby going 1:04.55.

The team is in 19th combined and look for tomorrow to finish out the meet strong. One of the more impressing factors for the team is how well they competed and performed in the morning to make it to finals. Also, the relays had some exciting races too. The last session brings the 100 free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and 1650 free.
