Successful Short-Course Season Wrap-Up!

The Piranha Swim Team had some exciting events happening this past weekend on the last days of our Fall/Winter season!  Coach Adam Schmitt said "it shows the depth and tradition of the Piranha program to have success in so many meets!" The majority of the team was at the Eastern Championship meet in Redlands, Ca. competing with age group swimmers from our region of Southern California Swimming.  The number of medals, ribbons and best times were numerous and it wrapped up a very successful season for the team.  The coaches did a fantastic job preparing the athletes for their success and instilled a positive attitude with our swimmers.  We want to congratulate all of the Piranhas that participated this past weekend.

There was also an event that two of our swimmers, Kelli Andrade and Shelby Andrade, were invited to compete in--the Southern California Swimming All-Star Swim Festival held at East LA College.  The All-Star Swim Festival is a competition featuring 192 of Southern California’s rising stars.  The swimmers are drafted onto four teams that compete against one-another during the weekend-long event. Congratulations to these two for representing Piranha at this prestigious Southern California Swimming event!

Another big event this weekend was the PAC-12 Women’s Swimming Championships held in Seattle, Washington where several Piranha Alumni not only competed but scored for their university.  We posted results on our Facebook page about the PAC-12 swimming championships and how well our Piranha Alums were doing at this fast, prestigious meet.  Lynette Lim, Elaine Lim, Shannon Landgrebe and Emily Andelson all represented their colleges; USC, ASU and UCLA, at the PAC 12 meet and swam very well.  Additionally, Christina Bruni participated with her San Jose State team at the WAC championships where they won the whole conference meet! We are so proud of our Piranhas past, present and future!

Reminders:

Piranhas, remember that we will not be having scheduled practices at our locations this week.  The Piranha offices will be open but we are using this time to plan for our Spring/Summer season, train staff and create new goals for the organization.  Enjoy the time away from the pool, stay active and be ready to go on March 5th.  A new schedule of practices will be posted on the website this week; it will not vary too much from what we have been doing this season.  Awards for the meets will be handed out on Monday, March 5that 5:00 at both Shadow Hills and Palm Springs locations.

Piranha Red/White March 10thMeet

A great opportunity for our swimmers to compete right here at home! Remember to sign up through our website for our March meet which is right around the corner and the entries are DUE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28!!  Piranhas are hosting this one-day meet at the Palm Springs location.  Parents, be sure to sign up for a volunteer session.

Again, it has been another great season for the Piranha team and the coaches look forward to more growth and great performances to come!
