K. ANDRADE, KOOKCHAKI LEAD PIRANA JUNIOR OLYMPIC TEAM
The Piranha 14 and under Junior Olympic Team performed in a way that EVERY Piranha member should be proud of at Golden West College. Kelli Andrade was the team leader by qualifying for finals in all six of her events and finishing in the top three in four different events. Kelli earned a Silver Medal in the 100 breast, Silver in the 50 breast, Bronze in the 100 fly, and Bronze in the 200 IM. All four swims for Kelli were best times. Alissah Koochaki was our other Piranha medalist, making finals in both the 50 free and the 500 free. Both swimmers were best times for Alissah and her 50 free swim qualifed her for SCS Club Champs next month. Our other JO swimmers, Emma Johansen and Cody Meyer, also had great meets. Cody had a huge drop in the 100 fly at first ever JO meet and Emma's 200 back was very close to making finals.
Piranha Proud Facts: In our clubs history, we have never not had swimmers qualify for a Junior Olympic Meet.
Next up: Eastern Committee Championships which all swimmers are eligible to compete and Southern California Swimming Club Championships, an elite meet where only the best swimmers qualify to attend. Seven Piranha Swimmers have qualified: Kelli Andrade, Shelby Andrade, Indira Ceranic, Alexa Wasserman, Faith Travis, Kat Wickham, and Alissah Koochaki
The Piranha Swim Team is the only team in the Coachella Valley and one of a few in the Eastern Committee to send swimmers to both Junior Olympics and Southern California Swimming Championships. Our team is where everyone can become better from the beginner to the elite.
