PIRANHAS TAKE ON EASTERN COMMITTEE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Close to 50 members of the Piranha Swim Team traveled to Redlands last weekend to compete in the Eastern Committee Championships "JO Max" Meet. With over 90% of all our swims beating previous best times, this was by far our best meet in a long time in terms of the quality of our swimming as a team. Great job Piranha Swimmers and Coaches. Thank you Piranha parents for all of the positive support of your swimmers and the Piranha Swim Team.
The Piranhas won an amazing 21 Gold medals at the event. Desiree Lewis was the 11-12 girls 50 free champion and Kelli Andrade won the 11-12 200 breast and 100 IM. 14 Year old Alissah Koochaki was our teams highest individual point scorer earning 5 Gold medals (100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 fly) while Faith Travis wasn't far behind earning 4 Golds individually (50 free, 100 free, 200 IM, 200 free). Lindsey Letellier dominated the distance races winning both the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle events. Indira Ceranic was the Eastern Committee Champion in the 100 breast, 400 IM, and the 100 back, Kat Wickham took home gold in the 200 back, and Alexa Wasserman made a new Sectional qualifying time while winning the 200 breast. In addition to the individual Gold medals our 15 and up girls won two relay Gold medals.
Besides the Gold medals, several other Piranha Swimmers finished in the top 8 in indivudal events. Shelby Andrade, Emma Johansen, Lexie Lettlier, Nima Rohani, Alex Delp, Bryce Ramos, Erin Fleet, and Anthony Gutierrez all earned medals with several top 8 finishes.
Being this was a scored Championship meet, if you finished in the top 16 individually or on a relay, you contributed to our team point total. The following Piranha Swimmers finished with swims that scored: Liam Keane, Conner Gutierrez, Jessie Gadd, Kyle Anderson, Matt Dore, Michael Oneill, Tenoch Sanchez, Richie Tomlin, Tiernan Kelly, Kevin Bellamy, Jordan Dwek, Johnny Delp, Naomi Asencio, and Alyssa Woody.
Due to this being a "JO Max" meet, many of our best swimmers could not swim their best events. Those swimmers that have qualified for the next level of Championship Meet are: Alissah Koochaki, Kelli Andrade, Shelby Andrade, Indira Ceranic, Faith Travis, Alexa Wasserman, and Kat Wickham. The Seven Piranaha ladies will compete this weekend at the Southern California Club Championships in East LA.
