3 PIRANHAS WITH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES THIS SUMMER
The Olympics are traditionally the most exciting event in swimming and held every four years. Right behind the Olympics in importance are the FINA World Championships which are held every two years. The 2013 World Champs take place this July in Barcelona and the worlds best swimmers will compete to earn the Gold, Silver, and Bronze for their country. To three Piranhas, this is a very important meet. Two of those Piranhas you know well while the other is a new addition to the team.
Lynette Lim is one of the most decorated and successful Piranhas in the 48 year history of our team. While representing Singapore she has qualified for the previous two Olympics and World Championship meets. Currently Lynette swims for Coach Dave Salo at USC where she is trying to qualify for her third World Championships. While trying to qualify this Summer, Lynette will be representing the Piranha Swim Team. The NCAA All American and Coach Gerald's daughter decided that the club she grew up on is who she would like to represent and we couldn't be more proud. Once a Piranha awlays a Piranha. Indira Ceranic is a current and long time Piranha that has trained with us through her High School season. Next month she will travel to her families native country of Bosnia to swim in their National Championships. If she swims well enough at the Bosnian Nationals, she could be selected to attend the World Championships as a member of their National team. We will be helping her get ready for that meet and cheering for her from 1000's of miles away during her trip.
Lastly I'd like to introduce the Piranha Swim Team to Nicholas Korth. While swimming with Coach Jeff at his previous club team Nick went from being a Sectional qualifier to a National Qualifier in two years. Last summer Nick was one of Coach Jeff's seven swimmers to compete at the US Olympic Trials where he swam the 100 and 200 breast. Nick currently swims for Coach Matt Macedo at UC San Diego where he has continued to improve each year and is a Division 2 National Champion in the 200 breast as well as a three time NCAA All American. Nick has qualified for the US World Championship Trials at the end of June in Indianapolis, a meet very similar to Olympic Trials and at that meet he will represent the Piranhas while traveling with Coach Jeff. He is an outstanding athlete and a great person. We are proud to have him as a Piranha through the Summer. We are ready to get you there this summer if you're ready to put in the work. Use these swimmers as an inspiration.
