SMRT in the Community
This week, during Spirit Week, SMRT Swimmers tye-dyed pillowcases for fun, but also raised or donated $185 for ConKerr Cancer, the pillowcase project. This organization asks volunteers to create fun, bright, and cheerful pillowcases to replace the stark white ones usually located in hospitals where children are staying for treatment, usually of serious or terminal illnesses. ConKerr Cancer helps children "feel special while battling life changing illnesses".
ABC of SMRT matched the swimmer's fundraising efforts and also donated $185 - for a total of $370 for the organization - that's 74 pillowcases donated by the SMRT Team!
Thanks to Coach Tara, Spirit Week Organizer, and SMRT Parent Amy Temkin (swimmer Callie - Gold group), for her connection with a wonderful organization and their facilitation of a great opportunity to show how SMRT lives the value of "Excellence in the Community". To learn more about ConKerr Cancer, visit www.conkerrcancer.org, or contact Amy Temkin through the "members" tab of our website. Pictures of the kids and their donation check will be uploaded to the website soon.
Thanks very much to the swimmers and families of SMRT for their support!
