FRISK DRISCOLL NEW HEAD AGE GROUP AND PS1 HEAD COACH

Stephen Pickell
SOCAL -
As you may know, Coach Ben and Coach Pristine will be leaving club coaching and Socal to focus on their swim lesson business. Their last day will be the SCS Club Championships on March 15.
Coach Pristine basically grew up at Socal.  Between her swimming career and her coaching, Pristine has been at Socal for thirty-three years. Coach Ben was my first hire and has been with us for sixteen years.  They are phenomenal coaches, great people, good friends, and they will be missed.
But Socal will move on, and it’s my pleasure to tell you we have filled Ben’s position with Coach Frisk Driscoll.  Beginning on March 16, Coach Frisk will be the new Head Age Group Coach and PS1 Head Coach.  As most of you know, Coach Frisk has been the Head Gold Group coach and assistant Platinum Group coach for the last six years.  We have worked side by side, and I can assure you Frisk is a great swim coach.  He is a student of the sport and has helped me develop Socal’s senior kids with newer and exciting science-based training methods
Competitively, Frisk was successful as a student-athlete, swimming for the University of Connecticut and earning a degree in Sports Management after graduating in 2010.  He made it to the finals in the 1650 Freestyle at the Big East Conference Championships three years in a row.
Prior to coming to Socal, Frisk was A D1 coach at Fairfield University. Before coaching college, he was an age-group coach at the Westport/Weston Family Y Water Rats.  Frisk also spent time coaching his high school alma mater, Staples High School. Highlights included multiple High School All-Americans, the 2014 team's 10-1 record, a second-place finish at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championships, and the team being named FCIAC Coach of the Year.
Ben, Frisk, and I will meet to ensure a seamless transition for all swimmers and families, and Frisk will also meet with the other age-group coaches as he develops a long-range plan broken into smaller training blocks.
We have not filled Pristine’s position yet, but have placed a job advertisement with USA Swimming, the American Swim Coaches Association, and SwimSwam, and have received several applicants, which Frisk and I will be interviewing next week.
