San Clemente Aquatic Team Dominates Distance Events at 2025 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West The 2025 Speedo Winter Junior Championships - West wrapped up on December 13 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas. This elite short-course yards (SCY) meet assembled the country's premier junior swimmers for four days of high-level racing, delivering big time drops, finals appearances, and multiple team records in one of the deepest fields of the season.

The  San Clemente Aquatic Team (SCAT)  delivered a strong performance, highlighted by future NCAA standouts  Zoe de Fabrique    (Indiana University commit, Class of 2026) and  Jay Hickman  (West Virginia University commit, Class of 2026) . Both distance specialists posted season bests, earned finals appearances, and broke multiple SCAT team records in the 17-18 age group.

    • Prelims: 4:51.18 (SB) – 14th (advanced)

Jay Hickman's Performances and Record Breaks (Boys 17-18):

    • Finals: 4:28.21 (SB, -0.42) – 23rd
    • Broke SCAT Boys 17-18 and Open Team Record 🚨 
  • 1000 Freestyle Timed Finals: 9:17.09 – 27th
  • 1650 Freestyle Timed Finals: 15:32.22 (PB) – 21st

Hickman and de Fabrique dominated the distance events, their versatility and endurance bodes well for their upcoming collegiate careers at WVU and Indiana.
