Reminder to social distance at Practice and at Pool

Dear Sun Coast Family,

It has been over a month since we have returned to practice and we want to thank all of you for your work and support.  In the past days Florida and Citrus County have seen an uptick in the number of positive COVID-19 cases. We want to do our team’s part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the continual opportunity of training.

We our privileged to participate in the sport we do. The CDC states and has provided the following information regarding recreational water activities:

“Currently, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can spread to people through recreational water. Additionally, proper operation of these aquatic venues and disinfection of the water (with chlorine or bromine) should inactivate the virus. However, it is important to limit close contact with people outside of your home when visiting public pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds, as well as natural bodies of water—like beaches and lakes—to slow the spread of COVID-19.”

In addition, and perhaps most importantly, please speak to your family medical professional about how to best protect your family from COVID-19.

With the increase in COVID cases, we feel this is an appropriate time to remind everyone physical distancing must be maintained at all times whether on the deck, in the pool, during strengthening/warmups, and during starting block drills. Now that the locker rooms are available, we ask that you please do not congregate in the locker rooms.

Social distancing of 6’ or more should be maintained in any congregating and, as recommended by the Florida Surgeon General and CDC,  when it is not possible to social distance use of masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is encouraged. We also ask that you wash your hand frequently with soap for at least 20 seconds.
