Two great Meets!

SCST competed in the 2020 Harry Meisel Championships West and the Florida Virtual Championships

For the first time since early last spring, Sun Coast Swim Team competed in not one but two meets in one weekend.  SCST sent 21 swimmers to compete at the 2020 Harry Meisel Championships at the North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg. At the same time, Meghan Cimini was swimming at the Florida Virtual Championships at the Long Center in Clearwater.

We had some impressive swims. Dropped times all over the place, broken records, and a number of medals winning top-three finishes.

Broken Team Records

Meghan Cimini broke four team records in the 15 & O 50Y (33.52 A), 100Y (1:12.51 A), 200Y (2:32.20 AA) Breast, and the 400Y IM (4.50.26 AA).  In addition, Lia Richards broke the 11-12 record in the 50Y Breast (38.93), Grace Burkholder in the 15 &O 50Y free (25.73), and Drew Jenkins in the 15 & O 100Y IM (56.61).

Chase Alford (6), Cullen Alford (8), Grace Burkholder (15), Emma Elferdink (16), Halle Filipic (7), Drew Jenkins (15), Lia Richards (12), Justin Rieck (14), Immaculee Spann (12), Lucas Spann, (7), Colton Wilson (12), and Marshall Wilson (17).

Taking home medals by finishing in the TOP 3 at Harry Meisel Championships:

• Cullen Alford - 50Y Breast (2^nd place), 25Y Breast (3^rd place), 100Y Free (3^rd place)
• Drew Jenkins - 100Y Fly (1^st place), 100Y IM (1^st place), 50Y Free (1^st place), and 100Y Back (2^nd place)
• Lia Richards - 100Y Fly (2^nd place), 50Y Fly (3^rd place), and 200Y IM (3^rd place)
• Colton Wilson – 200Y IM (3^rd place)

Those earning USA Swimming “A” or better times this weekend:

• Grace Burkholder - “AA” in the 50Y and 100Y Free
• Meghan Cimini – “AA” in the 400Y IM & 200Y Breast, and “A” in the 100Y Breast & 100Y FLY
• Drew Jenkins - “AA” in the 100Y Fly & 50Y Free, and “A” in the 100Y Free and 100Y Back
• Marshall Wilson - “AA” in the 100Y Free and 50Y Free (lead off in relay)

Top 5 best improved times this weekend

• Marshall Wilson dropped -19.93 in the 100Y IM
• Jacob Spann dropped -18.60 in the 25Y Free
• Lucas Spann dropped -17.84 in the 50 Breast
• Colton Wilson dropped -17.63 in the 100 Breast
• Jerry Randall dropped -14.35 in the 100 Breast
