Florida Summer Area 3 Championships Recap

Florida Summer Area 3 Championships is always one of the hottest meets of the year both in temperature/weather and swim times! This year was no exception. As a team of only 12 swimmers this year, we had over 60 top 10 finishes, 14 of which were top 3 finishes. Nearly all swimmers drop time in at least one event and most in a majority of their swims. The Sun Coast Swim Team earned a total of 381 points with some still being totaled.  The girls scored 234 and the boys 147. The top scorer for the boys was Chase Alford (7) with 100 points, followed by Cullen Alford (9) with 53 points and Garret Hickman (16) with 40 points. The top scorer for the girls was Halle Flipic (7) with 83 points, followed by Morgan Gibson (13) with 62 points and Lucia (15) with 55 points.

Special thanks to our amazing Coach Michelle Dickemann who was the coach on deck this meet. Coach “D” did an outstanding job and we were blessed to have her.

Extra thanks to Burt Randell (Jerry’s dad) for being the Sun Coast Swim Team volunteer referee official for the meet. He officiated a remarkable SIX TIMES of the weekend. (Each team was asked to bring two USA Swimming certified officials, but SCST only has one, Burt. He did triple duty. Thank you, Burt!! Sun Coast is looking for more parents willing to become USA Swimming certified Officials. More information on that in the future.
