The Sun Coast Swim Team made waves and left a lasting impression at the 2023 Heart of Florida Invitational, held in Haines City, Florida on September 23, 2023. The young swimmers from Sun Coast displayed incredible talent, determination, and sportsmanship, earning themselves a well-deserved place in the spotlight. Our 6 & under swimmers especially had a great meet! Wayke Lecouris earned The Meet’s High Point and Grayson Grady was runner up!
HIGHLIGHTS
Chase Alford: One of the standout performers of the meet was 9-year-old Chase Alford, who exhibited his prowess in various events. Chase secured a first-place finish in the Boys' 9-10 100 Free with an impressive time of 1:12.01Y, surpassing his previous best cut time by 1.02 seconds. He also secured first place in the Boys' 9-10 50 Back, showcasing a remarkable improvement of -4.33 seconds.
Cullen Alford: Cullen Alford, 11, delivered a commendable performance in the Boys' 11-12 category. He demonstrated consistency, achieving a second-place finish in the Boys' 11-12 100 IM and a fifth-place finish in the Boys' 11-12 50 Breast. Cullen's dedication to improvement was evident as he shaved off 5.45 seconds in the Boys' 11-12 100 Free.
Evie Filipic: Six-year-old Evie Filipic displayed her budding talent in the Girls' 6 & Under category. She secured fifth place in the 25 Back and 25 Free events, showcasing her potential in the pool.
Halle Filipic: Halle Filipic, 9, put on a spectacular performance, finishing first in the Girls' 9-10 50 Back with a time of 40.95Y. She also improved her personal best time in the Girls' 9-10 100 Free, demonstrating her dedication to excellence.
Emma Grady: Ten-year-old Emma Grady exhibited her skill in the Girls' 9-10 category, securing top positions in multiple events. Emma's remarkable consistency was evident as she achieved a second-place finish in the Girls' 9-10 100 IM and a third-place finish in the Girls' 9-10 50 Free.
Grayson Grady: Five-year-old Grayson Grady showed promising talent in the Boys' 6 & Under category. He secured second place in both the 25 Back and 25 Free events, marking himself as a rising star in the Sun Coast Swim Team.
Wayke Lecouris: Six-year-old Wayke Lecouris made a significant impact in the Boys' 6 & Under category, securing first place in both the 25 Back and 25 Free events. Wayke's impressive performance earned him the high point distinction for our 6 & under swimmers, while Grayson was the runner-up.
Adilynn Gronendyke: Nine-year-old Adilynn Gronendyke exhibited resilience and determination, participating in various events. Her efforts were highlighted in the Girls' 9-10 50 Back, where she improved her time by -3.94 seconds, showcasing her potential for future success.
Myra MacNaughton: Thirteen-year-old Myra MacNaughton showcased her versatility in the Girls' 13-14 category, finishing eighth in the 100 Breast with an impressive improvement of -8.35 seconds.
The Sun Coast Swim Team's collective efforts and remarkable performances at the 2023 Heart of Florida Invitational demonstrated their commitment to excellence and the bright future that lies ahead for these young athletes.
