The Sun Coast Swim Team (SCST) is thrilled to announce the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors, approved at the July 3rd, 2024 meeting. The new Board members are Chuck Gatton, Mike Laycock, Leigh Anne Silva, and Renee Alford. Each brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to the team, further enhancing SCST's mission to support its swimmers, families, and coaches.
Chuck Gatton
Chuck Gatton, the former head coach of SCST, continues to make significant contributions to the team as a volunteer coach. With a rich history of leadership and coaching excellence, Gatton's return in an official capacity on the Board is a testament to his enduring commitment to SCST. His experience and insight will be invaluable as the team navigates future opportunities.
Mike Laycock
Mike Laycock, a longtime SCST parent, has been a cornerstone of the team's volunteer community. Named SCST's 2021 Parent-Volunteer of the Year, Laycock is well-known for his tireless work as the time equipment manager and meet starter. His technical expertise and hands-on approach ensure that swim meets run smoothly, allowing swimmers to focus on their performance. Laycock's dedication and knowledge make him a vital addition to the Board.
Leigh Anne Silva
Leigh Anne Silva, honored as SCST's 2023 Parent-Volunteer of the Year, has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the team through her volunteer efforts. Silva's organizational skills and ability to rally support from parents and the community have been instrumental in the success of numerous events and initiatives. Her leadership and enthusiasm will continue to drive SCST forward in her new role on the Board.
Renee Alford
Renee Alford, another longtime SCST parent, is currently working towards her USA Swimming Coaching certification. Alford's dedication to the sport and her desire to contribute to the team's coaching staff highlight her commitment to the development and success of SCST swimmers. Her fresh perspective and ongoing education in coaching will be a valuable asset to the Board.
