Welcome to Our New Sun Coast Swim Team Coaches: Renee Alford and Grace Laycock

The Sun Coast Swim Team (SCST) is thrilled to welcome two new coaches, Renee Alford and Grace Laycock, to our growing swim family. Both coaches bring experience, dedication, and passion that will undoubtedly enhance our team’s success and community spirit.

Coach Renee Alford
Renee Alford is no stranger to the SCST family. As a board member and longtime dedicated supporter, Renee has played a pivotal role in the team’s growth and development. A former competitive swimmer and athlete herself, she is also a USA Swimming certified coach. Her deep-rooted connection with SCST, coupled with her extensive experience in athletics, makes her an invaluable addition to our coaching staff.

Renee’s commitment to fostering young talent extends beyond the pool. She is a respected teacher at Crystal River Primary School, where she inspires and educates her students daily. Her involvement in kid triathlons and other athletic programs as a volunteer athlete supporter highlights her dedication to nurturing young athletes and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. Renee’s enthusiasm, combined with her experience and supportive nature, promises to create a positive and motivating environment for our swimmers.

Coach Grace Laycock
Grace Laycock and her family have been integral parts of the SCST swim family for over a decade. As an accomplished swimmer for both SCST and the Crystal River Pirate Swim Team, Grace brings firsthand experience and a genuine love for the sport to her coaching role. She is also a USA Swimming certified coach. Her deep understanding of the team’s culture and values ensures a seamless transition and a continued tradition of excellence.

Grace has a special heart for our young, emerging swimmers. Her empathy and dedication to mentoring the next generation of athletes make her an exceptional coach for our younger team members. Grace’s ability to connect with and inspire young swimmers will be instrumental in their development, both in and out of the pool. Her enthusiasm for swimming and commitment to helping each swimmer achieve their personal best align perfectly with SCST’s mission.
