SCST’s Jocelyn Daugherty Wins Big at the TGH Citrus Kids Triathlon!

The Sun Coast Swim Team (SCST) is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Jocelyn Daugherty (14), who took 1st place in the Ladies Senior B division at the TGH Citrus Kids Triathlon! 🏆

This USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, hosted by the Citrus County Education Foundation (CCEF) and managed by DRC Sports, took place at the scenic Bicentennial Park in Crystal River, FL. Young athletes from across the area competed in swimming, biking, and running, showcasing their endurance, determination, and love for multisport competition.

For Jocelyn, this competition was not new territory. She has previously competed in two triathlons at Whispering Pines Park and three at Bicentennial Park, adding to a total of nearly ten triathlons under her belt. Her experience and dedication were on full display as she raced to victory.

Reflecting on her achievement, Jocelyn shared:
🗣️ “I like the sense of accomplishment, pride, and exhilaration after crossing the finish line. I like meeting other athletes from different areas who also come to compete.”

When asked what advice she would give to other young athletes interested in trying a triathlon, she encouraged them to take on the challenge:
🗣️ “For others who want to do a triathlon, just go out and do it. It is a challenging feat, but just finishing the race is an accomplishment in itself. You may not place, but knowing you can train harder and push yourself more for the next one is what matters.”

We are incredibly proud of Jocelyn for her perseverance, dedication, and inspiring attitude. She continues to make SCST proud, not only as a fierce competitor but also as a role model for aspiring young athletes.
