Sun Coast Swim Team Shines at 2025 Riptide Aquatics Summer Open

This past weekend, the Sun Coast Swim Team (SCST) made a powerful splash at the 2025 Riptide Aquatics Summer Open, held at the Ed Gandy Pool Complex in Lakeland, Florida. This mid-summer competition has become a hallmark event for SCST each season, and this year’s meet delivered yet another exciting chapter in the team’s journey.

Sixteen SCST swimmers competed in the high-energy, two-day event, racing against athletes from 11 teams across the region. When the lanes finally settled, SCST had earned an impressive 787 combined points, finishing 5th overall—an outstanding team performance that speaks to the depth, talent, and determination of this dedicated group.

Among the many highlights, two SCST swimmers rose to the top of their age groups. Cypress Collins (12) and Wayke Lecouris (8) each captured the coveted High Point Award—a distinction reserved for the most consistent and outstanding performers across all events. Their efforts were nothing short of exceptional and set a shining example for their teammates and the future of SCST.

Beyond those top honors, Sun Coast swimmers turned in numerous top-three finishes throughout the meet. Even more impressive was the sheer number of personal bests achieved. Nearly every swim resulted in a new PR, with many swimmers breaking their own records multiple times. It was a clear indication that the team’s summer training is hitting its stride—and then some.

A special thank you goes to SCST Head Coach Michelle Dickemann for her exceptional coaching, leadership, and unwavering belief in each swimmer. Her dedication continues to bring out the best in this team, both in and out of the pool.

We also extend heartfelt appreciation to the families and friends whose encouragement, time, and support make performances like this possible. Your presence and positivity help fuel the team’s spirit and success.

Gratitude as well to the Riptide Aquatics Swim Team for once again hosting this outstanding event, to Head Coach Lee Stauffer for his leadership behind the scenes, and to Admin Referee Eva Gronke of Fast Swim Times for ensuring a smooth, well-run meet.
