Crystal River’s Morgan Gibson Commits to Swim for the University of West Florida
This week, the national swimming publication SwimSwam featured a familiar name to the Crystal River community—our own Morgan Gibson, a distinguished senior at Crystal River High School. The magazine reported that Morgan has verbally committed to continue her student-athlete career at the University of West Florida, where she will swim for the NCAA Division II Argonauts beginning in the fall of 2026.
Morgan currently trains with Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training (FAST) in Ocala. Before that, she spent the better part of her swimming journey right here on the Suncoast, training and competing for Coach Michelle Dickemann with both the Sun Coast Swim Team and Crystal River High School.
In her announcement, Morgan shared, “I am so humbled and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of West Florida. I would like to thank my family, friends, and my club coaches for supporting me through every step of the process. I’d also like to thank Coach Phil for this incredible opportunity! GO ARGOS!!”
Coach Dickemann reflected on Morgan’s growth and drive, saying, “We are so proud of Morgan’s growth and improvement. She still has room for even greater advancement at the collegiate level. We look forward to following her collegiate career and celebrating her accomplishments”
From early morning practices to long weekends at meets across Florida, Morgan’s journey is a testament to hard work and perseverance. Her success also highlights the deep roots of swimming excellence in Citrus County—where committed athletes, families, and coaches make lasting impacts far beyond the pool.
The Crystal River community is proud of Morgan and will continue cheering her on as she represents both the Argonauts and the hometown that helped shape her. Congratulations, Morgan—your Pirate family is behind you all the way!
