Head Coach
Coach Mike started his career in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, as the Head Coach of the Lakeland Hills YMCA. In 1995, the Men’s team finished 2nd at YMCA Nationals. Coach Mike is an American Swim Coaches Association Level 5 Coach, having coached for 35 years producing New Jeresy High School Champions, CIF Champions, CIF record holders, Southern California Swimming Record holders, Junuior Olympic Champions, numerous National Top 16 rankings, Junior National finalists, Y-National champions and Sr. National qualifiers.
As the Assistant National Team coach at the Industry Hills Aquatics Club, Coach Mike had an opportunity to work with Olympic Trial Finalists, Senior National Finalists, USA National Junior Team members, as well as, Junior National Champions. Prior to coaching at Trident, he spent 3 successful years as the Age Group Select Coach at Brea Aquatics. While there he developed swimmers who set 3 Southern California Records, achieved numerous National Age Group Rankings, won numerous Junior Olympic titles and established over 50 new team records. October of 1999 was spent in Bahrain as part of the FINA/IOC Olympic Solidarity Program to conduct clinics for coaches and swimmers. Several trips were spent at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as part of the National Select Camp Staff. He has conducted ASCA Level 1 and Level 2 courses at the ASCA World Clinics and has also conducted swimming clinics in the Philippines.
Two years were also spent as volunteer assistant under Rob Orr at Princeton University. Coach Mike earned a BA in Biology from the University of Rhode Island and his Masters degree in Kinesiology from Long Beach State. Currently teaching high school biology in the Rowland Unified School District. Coach Mike is also the Head Coach for both the Rowland Girls Water polo and Swim Teams. At Rowland his Teams have won 3 CIF Championships in swimming. For his efforts in education he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship studying in both Mexico and Canada in the summer of 2004.
Coach: Senior/Age Group
Coach Ian started coaching with Walnut High School during the 1999 - 2000 swim season. He has been coaching with Trident Swim Club since May of 2007. Some of Coach Ian's proudest accomplishments as a swim coach is to have trained USA Swimming National, Junior National, Futures, Sectional, Senior and Age Group Zone qualifiers, Junior Olympic and Age Group Champions. He has also served as the Assistant Coach for the Rowland High School Swim Team since January 2010 and has trained multiple CIF Champions and earned two CIF championship titles for the Men's team and 1 for the Women's team. Coach Ian is currently a Substitute Teacher in the Rowland Unified School district.
During his time as a swimmer, Coach Ian trained and competed with some of the highest level athletes of our sport and has earned All-American honors in swimming while in college. Coach Ian also has experience competing in internationaly as an age-group swimmer from the Philippines. He has a Bachelors degree from California State University Long Beach and an Associates degree from Mount San Antonio College.
Coach Ian has over nine years of experience working in the medical administration field as well.
Coach: Junior Group/Silver Plus
Coach Eva joined Trident Swim Club in the August 2017. Coach Eva is also one of the Rowland High School Women's Water Polo coach. She was also an Assistant Coach for the Rowland High School Men's and Women's Swim team for 3 seasons. As an athlete; she was a member of the Women's Chinese National Water Polo Team. Coach Eva represented China in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. She was instrumental in the Chinese teams 5th place finish in the 2012 games. Coach Evas has competed Internationally, playing against some of the top teams in the world.
Coach Eva's athletic background began in swimming, where she was recruited by the Chinese federation to play water polo.
Coach: Age Group/Silver
Coach Josh has been coaching with Trident since 2021. Coach Josh has coached Junior Olympic and Age Group Champions in his brief time coaching. He is also an Assistant Coach for the Rowland High School Men's and Women's Swim Team.
Coach Josh was a member of the Rowland High School Men's team that won back-to-back CIF Championships. He was a former Trident that swam under both Coach Mike and Coach Ian. He has been around our pool deck since he was a new-born and learned to swim in our pool.
Coach Josh is also currently working on his Associates and Bachelors degree.
Coach: Silver/Bronze
Coach Andrea has been coaching with Trident Swim Club since 2017. She has primarily been working with our younger athletes. She is the Pool Manager for the Rowland Adult and Community Education program during the summer where she oversees the learn-to-swim lessons and program. She is also currently an Assistant Coach for the West Covina High School Men's and Women's Swim Team.
Coach Andrea was a member of the Rowland High School Women's Water Polo and Swim Teams.
Coach Andrea has a Bachelors degree and is currently working on her teaching credential and a Substitute Teacher for the Rowland Unified School District.

Coach Michael joined the Trident coaching staff in 2022. He was a former Trident who swam under Coach Mikein his older years and Coach Ian in his younger years. He decided to return to Trident and share his knowledge, expertiese and experiences with our Senior Group athletes. Michael's list of accomplishments is extensive. Michael was recruited by numerous colleges and ultimately decided to attend UC Santa Barbara.
Michael “Cha Buo” Wang was born Dec. 16, 1996. Majoring in Financial Math and Statistics at UCSB. Enjoys biking and hiking in his free time. Began swimming at age nine. If he could add an event to each meet it would be the 800 IM. Being recruited to a Division I school is the proudest achievement of his swimming career. Goals of making NCAA and going to Olympic Trials.

2016-17:
MPSF Team Champion
Placed fourth in 200 freestyle relay, fourth in 400 freestyle relay, fifth in 200 IM, and fourth in 400 IM at MPSF Conference Championships.
2015-16:
Placed ninth in the 100 butterfly and tenth in the 200 butterfly at the 2016 MPSF Conference Championships...Los Angeles Invitational champion in the 200 IM.
High School
Graduated from John A. Rowland High School. Swimmer of the Quadrennium…MVP…CIF Champion in the 100 freestyle (2014, 2015)…CIF Division IV record holder in the 50 and 100 freestyle…School record-holder in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke.
