(OAK RIDGE, Tenn.) After an incredibly successful Short Course season, the Atomic City Aquatic Club is looking forward to kicking off the Long Course season. During the Long Course season, which runs from April to early August, swimmers train to compete in events that are measured in 50-meter lengths.

“We haven’t been able to race in a 50 meter course in two years,” said ACAC Head Coach Andy Wagner. “We are excited for the upcoming meets and eager to see our improvements in these events.”

ACAC anticipates its first Long Course meet will take place May 8-9 at the Kingsport Piranhas 2021 Long Course Kickoff. The Long Course season will include several meets throughout May and June and culminate in the Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championship in July.

While the team is still practicing COVID precautions, the Long Course season will bring a sense of normalcy to the swimmers as they begin to practice at the City of Oak Ridge Outdoor Municipal Pool beginning June 1st

The 10 weeks of outdoor practices provides a huge boost for swimmers’ fitness levels and confidence as they approach the longer races of the season.

ACAC swimmers are eagerly anticipating the summer finale meets, including the GKAISA City Championship, which were canceled last year due to the global pandemic.

ACAC is a year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.
