8 & Under Girls are District West Champs!

NAC took 104 swimmers to the 2010 District West Championship meet this past weekend in Brentwood, TN. For some swimmers it was their final meet of the season and for others it was a last chance to qualify for the Southeastern Championships. The highlight of the meet was the 8 & Under Girls taking home the Championship Trophy after a weekend of impressive time drops.

Scoring points for the 8 & Under Girls were Millie Oldham (67 points), Mikayla Oleksyk (14 Points), Amaya Henry (14 points), Diana Araque (12 points), Kyler Freeman (12 points), and Isabel Oldham (3 points). The 100 Freestyle Relay of Millie Oldham, Mikayla Oleksyk, Amaya Henry, and Hailey Simmons racked up 18 points for their win while the 100 Medley of Paola Garcia, Kyler Freeman, Mikayla Oleksyk, and Millie Oldham brought in another 12 points.

Millie Oldham was the swimmer of the meet winning the High Point award for the 8 & under Girls. Millie won the 100 Free, 50 Fly, 100 IM, 25 Fly, 50 Free, 50 Back, and was the anchor leg of the winning 8 & Under 100 Free Relay. Even more impressive were Millie’s personal best records in every event she competed! Millie is sure to be a contender in next year’s Southeastern Championships as she turns 9 in March.

NAC added to the list of Southeastern Qualifiers to include: David Brooks (100 Br, 50 Fly), Victoria Campbell (100 Br), Kathryn Capizzi (100 Br), Casey Charles (50 Fly, 100 Bk), Blayne Cowan (100 Fly), Becca Dedert (200 IM, 50 Fr), Marina Escales (50 Br), Will Harvey (200 IM), Katie Kemp (200 Fr), Margaret Luffman (100 Br, 50 Br, 50 fly), Ella McGinty (100 Br), Nadia Nik (50 Fr, 200 IM, 50 Br), Camille Patton (100 Fly, 200 IM, 50 Fly, 100 IM), Chloe Overton (50 Fr), Elijah Patrick (100 Fly), Beau Prince (100 Br, 100 IM, 50 Fr, 200 IM, 50 Br, 100 Bk), Jack Prince (200 Br), Matthew Robbins (200 Fr), Clay Skoda (500 Fr), Clare Smith (200 IM, 50 Br), Theresa Smith (400 IM), Bailey Vernon (200 Fr, 50 Fly, 100 Fly), David Windley (100 Br).

In the 10 & Under division Beau Prince was the standout for the boys, qualifying for Southeasterns in 6 additional events now allowing him to compete in the maximum number of events. Beau was also the District West Champion in the 100 Br, 100 IM, 50 Br, and 100 Bk. Zac Gammons performance in the 50 Bk, winning in a time of 38.57, was over a 2.5 second personal best for him. On the girls side, Margaret Luffman and Camille Patton tallied points and added to their list of Southeastern cuts. Margaret’s victory in the 100 Br was almost a 3 second drop from her previous best time. Camille Patton added the most qualifying cuts out of her agegroup allowing her to compete in 4 events this coming weekend.

In the 11-12 category there were many victories and Southeastern cuts to be had. On the girls side Bailey Vernon was the top scorer for NAC with 30 points not including the 200 Medley relay she was a part of that scored 14 points. Bailey also qualified for Southeasterns in 3 events. For the boys, Matthew Robbins claimed victories in the 200 Fr, 50 Fr, and 100 Fr. Blayne Cowan won the 100 Fly and 100 Br while Casey Charles came out on top in the 100 Bk. The 200 Fr Relay consisting of Matthew Robbins, Elijah Patrick, Clay Skoda, and Casey Charles took home first place while the 200 Medley Relay of Patrick, Cowan, Charles, and Robbins did the same. Patrick and Skoda were among those who qualified for their first ever 11-12 Southeastern cuts.

Rounding off the District meet were the13-14 men and women. Both made an impact with their fantastic performances. Katie Kemp and Theresa Smith qualified for Southeasterns on the women’s side while Jack Prince did the same for the men. Together the 13-14 age-group scored 249 points for out of the 1440 total points for NAC.
