BLACKWOOD BREAKS 200 BREAST RECORD AS NAC PREPARES FOR CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON
The Nashville Aquatic Club swimmers were in fine form over the weekend with great swims at the Excel Mardi Gras Invitational at the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood. NAC was once again led by dominating performances from the 10 and under and 11-12 girls. The 10 and under girls claimed victory in 9 out of 12 individual events, with wins from Erika Giuse, Annie Kyriakides, and Xiuya Yao. Not to be outdone the 11-12 girls won 12 of 14 individual events with victories coming courtesy of Sophie Pilkinton, Riley Frost, and Emma Blackwood. Blackwood ran away with the 11-12 200 breastroke in a new Southeastern record (2:24.74) which she previously held at (2:27.03). In addition to the new SES record the time stands for the moment as the fastest in the country for 11-12 girls. Coming off the Middle School Championships a week ago and the High School region meet Friday only a handful of 13 and older swimmers competed in the meet. In all NAC has 57 new Southeastern standards from 31 swimmers including; Sarah Grace Black, Emma Blackwood, Victoria Campbell, Casey Charles, Taylor Charles, Tommy Colaberdino, Ted Curtiss, Becca Dedert, Bailey Flinn, Philip Fossee, Samantha Gafford, Alex Gray, Carrie Johnson, Barrett Jones, Cole Jones, Annie Kyriakidis, Alex Lundy, Will McCall, Keely McCulla, Matt McPherson, Ameila Munn, Sophie Pilkinton, J.C. Robbins, Jeremy Senn, Sara Staats, Roni Summers, Harrison Turney, Tatum Wade, Sophie Walker, and Xiuya Yao.
