NAC Swimmers shine at TN High School Championships
NAC High School athletes competed at the 2011 Tennessee High School State Championships this past weekend. The meet, hosted by Pilot Aquatics at the University of Tennessee, spanned two days and saw some fantastic swimming by athletes across the state.
NAC swimmer Hannah Runyon-Hass, a senior, took home the state title in the Women's 200 Individual Medley, clocking a time of 2:01.45 and picking up her first USA Swimming National cut.
Maclin Davis, a junior, picked up state titles in two events, the Men's 100 Butterfly and the Men's 100 Backstroke. Davis swam the 100 fly in a state record time of 47.14, clipping Gil Stovall's previous meet record of 47.93. Davis was only .04 off of the National Independent High School record. In the 100 backstroke, Davis raced to a 50.06.
Morgan Flynn, a sophomore, also had a breakout swim in her 500 Freestyle, racing to a close second place finish in a time of 4:54.70.
NAC swimmers who had finals swims included: Bridget Killian, Allison Maher, Bailey Frost, Nathan Stinson, Tate Ramsden, Wes Nealy, Taylor Melton, Katrina Keirns, Michelle Chintanaphol, Sam Sloan, Andrew Dobbs, Ted Curtiss, Matt McPherson, Alex Goss, Kate Wiseman, Rachel Deutsch, Adam Cornett, Jarvis Werkhaven, Chase Lovelace, Philip Fossee, Anna Grainger, Mary Ann Wagster, Reece Boyd, Riley Frost, Morgan Flynn, Jane Ann Darken, Jeremy Senn, Taylor Charles, Falkner Werkhaven, Melissa Guo, Taylor Piranian, and Rhett Lundy.
The USA Swimming National Championships, occurring this year from August 2nd - August 6th at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, is the highest level of annual competition in the United States.
