NAC Crafts Great Recipe at 2011 Summer Sizzler
With one of the largest Nike Summer Sizzler's ever on the books, NAC athletes reached several milestones over the past weekend and laid a good foundation for beginning to prepare for Southeasterns, Junior Nationals, and Nationals. Several athletes are right on the brink of making significant milestones, and with a few more weeks of focused training should be able to make strides towards achieving those goals!
Lakeside Swim Team took home the team title, besting NAC by only 60 points. In age group high point events, Erika Giuse took home the 11-12 Girls high point awards, followed by Annie Kyriakidis in a close second. Seth Kyriakidis took home the 11-12 Boys high point award, and Chatham Dobbs took home the 13-14 Boys high point award.
Several NAC athletes achieved significant milestones over the weekend. Dakota Hodgson picked up an additional Olympic Trials cut in the 200IM finishing in a 2:06.08. Anna Grainger qualified for USA Swimming Summer Nationals in the 200m backstroke, clocking a time of 2:18.94 and is now less than 1 second away from the Olympic Trial qualifying standard. Taylor Charles qualified for USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals in the 400m IM, swimming the event in 4:36.39. Alex Goss also qualified for USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals in the 100m breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:07.26. Morgan Flynn picked up 2 USA Swimming Summer Junior National time standards, one in the 400m freestyle, and another in the 800m freestyle. Elizabeth Stinson achieved her USA Swimming Summer Junior National time standard in the 800m freestyle, as well.
Maclin Davis improved his national standing in the men's 100m butterfly, clocking a time of 53.65 - the 10th fastest time in the United States in 2011.
NAC saw two age-group athletes have break out sessions, as Seth Kyriakidis and Julia Jane Eskew came into their own over the weekend and saw significant time drops.
NAC also set a significant number of meet records over the weekend, including: Chatham Dobbs (13-14 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 50 breaststroke), Jack Murfee (Open 50 backstroke), Carrie Johnson (13-14 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly), Annie Kyriakidis (11-12 200 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 200 IM, 100 backstroke), Seth Kyriakidis (11-12 200 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 200 IM), Erika Giuse (11-12 400 freestyle, 50 backstroke), Maclin Davis (Open 50 butterfly). Several relay meet records were also set by NAC athletes, including: 11-12 Boys 200 Freestyle Relay (Hudson Dobbs, Elijah Patrick, Ford Ray, Seth Kyriakidis), 10 and Under Girls 200 Medley Relay (Youli Yao, Tammy Guo, Ophelia Pilkinton, Camille Patton).
