NAC Athletes Dominate SES Championships
Nashville Aquatic Club athletes had a dominating performance over the weekend at the 2011 Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championship in Knoxville, TN. Nashville Aquatic Club took home the overall team title, finishing in first place by an astonishing margin of 1,125.5 points. The Senior women set the tone on the first night, finishing 1st through 6th place in the Senior 400IM, and NAC never looked back!
NAC athletes picked up an incredible array of cuts. Hannah Runyon-Hass picked up her first Olympic Trial cut in the 400IM. Dakota Hodgson picked up additional Olympic Trial cuts in the 200 and 400 Freestyles. Morgan Flynn and Elizabeth Stinson both picked up their first USA Swimming Summer National cuts in the 1500 freestyle. Michelle Chintanaphol picked up her first USA Swimming Summer National cut in the 200 backstroke. Eleanor Phillips qualified for USA Swimming Summer Senior Nationals in the 200 butterfly.
NAC also had a strong contingent of athletes make their first USA Swimming Summer Junior National cuts. Annie Kyriakidis and Tatum Wade picked up their Summer Junior cuts in the 100 breaststroke. Chatham Dobbs picked up a cut in the 100 backstroke, and Adam Cornett picked up his Summer Junior cut in the 50 freestyle.
Several athletes also picked up additional Junior National cuts including Taylor Charles, Anna Grainger, and Morgan Flynn. NAC also had several athletes pick up their first NAC Travel team cuts - Melissa Guo in the 200 breaststroke, Reece Boyd in the 100 butterfly, Ted Curtiss in the 100 backstroke, and Tate Ramsden in the 200 freestyle.
Southeastern Swimming selects the Zone All-Star team based on results of the meet, and NAC had 8 athletes selected to the team - the most of any team in the LSC! Annie Kyriakidis, Seth Kyriakidis, Tatum Wade, Sophie Pilkinton, Carrie Johnson, Paige Colaberdino, Chatham Dobbs, and Matt McPherson were all chosen to represent the LSC at the Zone Championship meet in Cary, NC July 26-30th.
NAC's 13-14 girls, Senior girls, and Senior men all took home age group championships by outpacing their opponents in their respective age groups.
High point winners from NAC included Morgan Flynn (Senior Girls), Annie Kyriakidis (11-12 Girls), and Tatum Wade (13-14 Girls). Annie Kyriakidis and Chatham Dobbs were also awarded the women's and men's most outstanding swim of the meet for their 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, respectively.
The 13-14 girls medley and freestyle relays took down Southeastern Swimming records, and Annie Kyriakidis set a new SES record in the 11-12 girls 100 breaststroke.
First place finishers from the Nashville Aquatic Club included: Seth Kyriakidis (11-12 800FR, 200IM), Elizabeth Stinson (13-14 1500FR, 400FR, 800FR), Morgan Flynn (Senior 1500FR), Dakota Hodgson (Senior 200FR, 400FR), Tatum Wade (13-14 100BR), Chatham Dobbs (13-14 100BK, 100FLY), Hannah Runyon-Hass (Senior 400IM), Sophie Pilkinton (13-14 400IM), Annie Kyriakidis (11-12 50BR, 100FLY, 200IM, 100BR, 50FLY), Erika Giuse (11-12 50BK, 100BK), Maddie Hoff (13-14 200IM, 200BR), Paige Colaberdino (13-14 200BK), Carrie Johnson (13-14 100FLY), Maclin Davis (Senior 100FLY), and Youli Yao (10&U 100BK).
