NASHVILLE SWIMMERS IN THE SLIPSTREAM AT OLYMPIC TRIALS

Dynamic duo sisters swim among elite athletes in Omaha

June 2016—Omaha, Neb. Nashville Aquatic Club (NAC) has a dozen swimmers trained, tapered, and hitting the water at the 2016 Olympic Swimming Trials taking place this week in Omaha, Nebraska.

From the young sister act of Gretchen and Alex Walsh to veteran Curtis Lovelace, who is going for his THIRD Olympic trials, NAC’s young athletes are gearing up for greatness.

At just 13 years of age, NAC swimmer Gretchen Walsh becomes one of the youngest swimmers to partake in the swimming trials. She joins her 14-year old sister Alex in the pool this week.

“This is the fastest swim meet in the world,” says NAC head coach John Morse. “We’ve got a very focused and tough group of athletes and you’re going to see some amazing swimming this week,” Morse said.

For 26 year-old Lovelace, his main obstacle was finding time to train while working at a full time job. “ It has been very difficult staying on a consistent training schedule while working 40-50 hours a week, “ Lovelace said. “Having already competed on the US National team at international competitions, I know there is nothing like wearing a swim cap with the American flag on it.”

The swimming event runs from Sunday, June 26 through Sunday July 3.

A list of all NAC swimmers participating in Olympic Trials can be found at NAC Olympic Trial Swimmers. For more information on the Trials in Omaha go to USASwimming.org.

Over the years, NAC has consistently given rise to top-notch athletes and coaches.  The club has produced four Olympians, dozens of Olympic Trial qualifiers, national junior team members, and national champions. NAC’s success not only tells the story of these champions; it also highlights the athletes, families and coaches who have all been a part of the program.
