My love and passion for swimming started at a very young age. I learned to swim through the South San Francisco Parks and Rec Department. I joined SSFAC at 12 years old, and swam Varsity on the So. San Francisco High School Team, for 4 years, and served as Team Captain my Junior and Senior year.
In 2013, I started working with the aquatics staff at the South San Francisco Parks and Rec as a Swim Instructor, Head lifeguard, and currently running the evening swim lesson program. Watching swimmers get excited about learning how to swim, led to joining the coaching staff with SSFAC in 2017, as an assistant coach primarily working with the Blue group.
I am passionate about helping swimmers develop their love for their sport and helping them feel accomplished in multiple aspects of life. I want to coach athletes to become the best swimmers that they can be, no matter their ability level, with proper stroke technique, and smart swimming, while providing a fun & safe environment to thrive in.
On my free time, I love to try all types of new food and restaurants!
Coach Michelle is a San Francisco native who began swimming at age 8 with the SF Rec & Park Manta Rays. She competed in several Far Western Championships, specializing in butterfly and backstroke, and later went on to swim and coach with Davis Aquatic Masters.
A strong advocate for water safety and swim education, Michelle launched the first Learn-to-Swim program at Hamilton Pool. At SSFAC, she’s passionate about helping kids enjoy the sport while building discipline, integrity, and a love for hard work—in and out of the pool.
Coach Alvin began his swimming journey at the age of 14 as a
competitive athlete with the Rossi Manta Rays Swim Team,
where he developed a deep love for the sport and the discipline it
builds. After years of training and competition, Alvin transitioned
into coaching and spent 3–4 years leading and mentoring
swimmers on the same team that shaped his early swimming
career.
His passion lies in helping each swimmer reach their fullest
potential, both in and out of the water. He believes that
swimming teaches valuable life lessons—resilience, focus, and
confidence—and strives to make every session a positive step
toward personal growth.
