December January Swimming and B Champs

Christopher Kjeldsen

This is a reminder for our veterans and important news for our new folks.

Despite the holidays December and January are critical training months for both age group and High School swimmers because January 17 and 18th is our B championship meet and January 23rd the high shcool district meets begin.

For the B championship know that unlike the meets in September -December, this is not an optional meet. Ever since the establishment of the Sailfish in 2009, the team tradition is that if you make a cut you swim it for the team at the B Championship. So clear your calendar this takes priority.

For the first time, there will also be relays. Only one relay per team will be allowed, meaning the top 4 swimmers get that honor. Initial relays will be created after the December 5-7 meet. For you new folks we used to have to travel to San Antonio and stay in hotel rooms, but now it is very convienently in our back yard over at the Round Rock Aquatics center.

Congratulations to our 65 swimmers that have already qualified! You have been entered and approved for your individual events. For everyone else, it is not too late to qualify. Make sure you are signed up for the December 5-7 Graceland meet in events in which you are close to a B cut. There may be a makeup meet later in December for the cancelled Surfin Turkey meet or maybe one last chance on January 10th, one week before B champs. But do not hold your breath on those last two options.Plan on December 5-7th.

It is easy to remember. For the B champs BE there.
