Rule and Regulation Changes by Pac Swim Board 11/06
Changes to Rules and Regs approved by board -- You should be aware of changes to Sections 2, 4, and 5 of Pacific?s Rules and Regulations which were approved by the board of directors at its October meeting. Following is a thumbnail summary of the changes, which take effect Jan. 1:
- Time conversions are no longer required or accepted.
- In Senior-level meets in the senior program, proof of time will be required. The USA Swimming SWIMS database will be used as the standard for verifying times. Swimmers may enter an event in any Senior meet with a time that meets the qualifying standard for that event in any course (short course yards, short course meters, or long course).
- In Junior-level meets in the senior program, swimmers aged 13 and over may enter without proof of time. Swimmers aged 12 and under may enter this level meet but are subject to proof-of-time requirements.
- For JO- or Q-level competition in the age group program, proof of time will be required. Swimmers may enter any JO or Far Western meet with a time that meets the appropriate standard in any course (short course yards, short course meters, or long course).
- In other age group meets, if a swimmer has met a given standard in one course but not another, he or she must enter at that standard in the other course. For example, if a swimmer has an A time in an event short course but not long course, he or she must enter that event in a long course meet at the minimum A long course standard.
