Best times at GGST Invitational and a New World Record

 

 World Record at NCAA Championships-
Cielo became the first man to break 41 seconds in the 100-yard free when he set the U.S. Open, NCAA and meet record in that event with a time of 40.92.  Go to www.usaswimming.org to read the story.

 

MCAT Swimmers go for Personal Bests at the Gilroy Gators Invitational Meet on 3/29 and 3/30.

Liz Whalen (9) swam 5 events and had 5 best times.  She placed 8th in the 200 free in the C Division with a time of (3:23.53. ) She also earned a new B time in the 100 free dropping a whopping 16.01 seconds going (1:30.57) and placing 7th in the C division in that event. 100% personal bests!

Celeste Valdez (11) swam 6 events and had 6 best times.  She swam 3 new B standards receiving 3rd in the 100 free (1:12.02), 4th in the 50 back (40.04), 7th in the 200 back (3:03.82), 2nd in the 50 fly (32.23), and 1st in the 50 free (48.93) in the C Division. 100% personal bests!

Cole Rianda (12) swam a personal best in the 50 fly , 50 free and placed 7th in the C Division in the 50 Breast going (50.71).

Josie McClure (8) swam 3 personal best times, placing 6th in the B division in the 25 Back (55.78) and placing 5th in the 100 free going (2:16.28) 100% persoanl best times.

Rachel Best (8) placed 5th in the 25 fly (26.37) in the B division.

Amanda Cavazos (6) had 6 new personal best times, earning 4 new B times.  In the 8 and under C division she placed 2nd in the 25 free (22.03), 1st in the 25 back (26.32), 2nd in the 50 fly (1:03.19), 5th in the 50 back (1:04.65), 2nd in the 25 breast (29.48), 2nd in the 25 fly (29.75),  and 4th in the 50 free (51.81). She was the youngest swimmer at the meet in her 8 and under division. KUDOS!!

Daniel Cavazos(9) had 2 personal best times in the 50 free and in the 100 free.

Austin Hussain (11) swam 7 races and earned 7 personal best times.  He took 4 seconds off of his 100 free, 3 seconds off his 50 free, 2 seconds off the 200 free, 7 seconds off the 100 Breast, 5 seconds of the 50 fly, 2 seconds of off the 50 back, and 8 seconds of of the 50 breast.

Genevieve Leonard (12) swam 4 races earning personal bests in all races.  She placed in four of the races in the C Division.  She dropped 3 seconds in the 50 back (40.48) placing 5th.  She dropped 7 seconds in the 200 free and 2 second in the 50 free (34.62) placing 3rd and placed 6th in the 50 breast (44.31). 100% persoanl best times.

Juliette Leonard (9), swam 3 new best times and earned a new B time in the 100 breast placing 2nd in the B division.

Jamie Macabugao (13), placed second in the 200 free in the 13-18 C Division (2:43.12),placed 3rd in the 200 butterfly going (3:06.34) and placed 7th in the 200 breast improving her time(3:30.75).

Toby Macabugao (11), swam 4 persoanl best times placing 5th in the B division in the 50 back and the 200 free.  He also earned a new B time in the 200 fly swimming it in (2:38.50) and placing 2nd. 100% personal best times.

Morgan Marsiguerra (10), swam 4 new personal bests and  earned a B time in the 50 free (39.46)

Grant Hashimoto (16) placed 1st in the A+ division in the 50 free(23.51), 100 free (50.13), 200 free (1:50.84) and 100 fly (58.59).  He placed 2nd in the 100 back (1:02.19)and 3rd in the 100 breast (1:12.07).  Grant has earned at recent high school meets 3 CCS-CIF Qualifying times in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.  He did this in his first 2 meets. Grant was all league in the MBL's in the 100 and 200 free.  He looks to shatter his times as a junior and go for all league in 2 individual events again in May of 2008.
