I am very excited about the results from the swim meet this past weekend at Gilroy High School. We did not rest for this meet and have put in major yardage, as well as focus on starts and streamlines in the past few weeks at practice. Our team members have bought in to working hard at practice. The swimmers at this meet proved that perfect practice does make perfect and helps with dropping times.
Swims of note:
Amanda Cavazos(6) dropped 10.02 seconds earning a new B time in the 50 Breast and dropped 5.11 seconds in the 50 fly going 24.28. She also improved times in 2 other races, Awesome.
Jose McClure (8)earned 5 new best times at the meet, (100% best times) dropping over 7 seconds in the 100 free,5.5 seconds in the 50 back, over 2 seconds in the 25 back, and 2.34 seconds off in the 25 fly. WOW
Mathew Dunston (8)100% best times dropping in all of his races. 1.82 seconds off in the 50 free and 1.92 seconds off in the 25 fly.
Elizabeth Whalen (9) improved in seven of eight events. She took 10.82 seconds off her 50 breast, going 55.53, took 5.83 seconds off her 50 back and 1.91 seconds off of her 50 free. Liz earned a new B time in the 50 free. Congratulations.
Daniel Cavozos (9) was the most improved of the meet with impressive drops in the 50 free,100free and 50 back. His drops were all about 10 seconds in each race. Amazing!!!!
Catelyn Haro (11) 100% best times. 12.74 seconds off on the 200 free. 2.38 seconds off in the 100 back. Incredible!
Celeste Valdez (11) 8 races equaled 8 best times. 3 new BB’s in the 200 free,50 fly and 200IM. This is someone who is consistantly dropping at meets and attends every meet and practice offered. 12.22 seconds of in the 100 IM. 2.77 seconds in the 50 fly. 4.2 seconds in the 50 breast. You Rock!
Austin Hussain (11) 8 races equaled 8 time drops. 100% best times! 11.92 seconds off in the 100IM, 4.5 seconds off in the 100 free, 11.17 seconds off in the 200 free, 4 seconds off in the 50 back. You are the Bomb!
Jam Macabugao after a week of dedicated double swimming 10,000 yards a day and having no rest or mercy from her coach earned 100% best times and 2 new B times. Dropping 14.28 seconds in the 200 Breast. 9.51 seconds in the 100 fly and 8.7 seconds off in the 100 back. "She unleashed the beat of the beast"
I am in awe of these kids. They are focused and committed at practice. Their improvement is remarkable.
