Hashimoto Makes Consolation Finals and Bonus Finals at Senior Championships

Senior MCAT Swimmer swam well enough in prelims on Saturday , December 12 and Sunday , December 13, 2008 to make Consolation Finals in the 100 free and Bonus Finals in the 50 Free.  In the frigid climate ,Grant was able to swim a Personal Best Time in the 50 free in going 22.67.  Grant  also swam a season best in the 100 free going under 50.00.     This is a tough meet to make finals.  All athletes 14 and up swim against each other.  There are no age group divisions.  Kudos  to Grant for a very successful meet.  The times swum present a good omen for the last year as an age group swimmer for MCAT.  Colleges will take notice of your tenacity and talent.

I was so impressed with the resolve of elite swimmers.  Only in California do swimmers, swim outside in these drastic weather conditions.   Swimmers are the toughest of all athletes.  They don’t get protective gear.  Only swimmers would stand tall on a block, nearly naked, and relish the prospect of competition in these conditions.  The swimmers at this meet and the 1000 participants at the Gilroy meet was a marvel of dedication and commitment to the great sport of swimming.
