Dear Generous Donor Family,
My Name is Dia C. Rianda and I am a Mom, and a Head Coach for the Monterey County Aquatic Team (a USA Swimming affiliated competitive team and swim lesson program) and the Palma High School Swim Team. I have coached thousands of kids over a 15+ year coaching career. This winter after a bad accident on a pool deck, I had faced the real possibility that I would never be able to stand on a pool deck again and do what I love most. The thought of not being able to coach again was even more devastating than the injury. It is because of your generosity and that of your loved one, that I can still be there for kids and do what I love.
I am 47 years old, and am extremely thankful for the opportunity you and your loved one has given me. I am often asked by my swimmers and others, “do you know who donated to you ?” This is something I would like to know. However, I am sensitive enough to let you know that am just fine with writing this letter to you to sincerely express my appreciation. I am truly sorry for your loss, and want you to know that your gift has made my life better. I think of you daily. Honestly, I do not think there are enough positive words to express how I feel about the gift I have received. It is truly a beautiful thing that you have done and an act of true love.
This is the first week since the surgery, that I have been walking without a wheel chair, crutches and pain. My leg is stable and strong. Today, I was cleaning my car out and found the card with the information on it to thank you. I received the card the day of my surgery and did not realize what it was until I found it today. When I found it I cried tears of joy and gratitude because I can say thank you. I wish I had found it sooner. I want you to know that your act of love has made my life better and made those that I work with very happy. I can coach, and I can walk. Bless you.
Sincerely yours,
Dia C. Rianda
